gas is better but you normally don't get to choose in a house. It can be quite expensive switching from electric to gas in the home. Aren't you in California also? If so, there is a reason they don't use gas. Gas is a big danger because of the earthquakes.

Everyone needs a double oven in their lives... And glass top stoves. I'm DYING to make a fully custom, black marble or tile kitchen countertops with stainless steel appliances, and dark red cherry wood cabinets and trim. And red walls.

I prefer gas, because of the above points, but also because if the power went out, I would still be able to cook, and warm up in the winter because it doesn't shut off like it would if it was electric! Win!

I would use gas because if the electricity goes out you can't cook on your stove.

Every hear of the expression "now we're cooking with gas?" Basically, it means that now things are going well.
GAS!
There is a reason chefs dont have electric stoves.

Make sure you have a gas line before ordering a gas stove. Since gas is better, most electric stoves are installed as there is no access to gas.
