coming home outfit for baby girl

posted 27th Sep
So yesterday I hit the half way point and it hit me how close our baby girl is to being here.. (: I am trying to make sure we are getting the right things and essentials.. and that we are registering for the right items.

when it comes to the coming home outfit.. what do you generally look for? Is there anything to avoid? I read its important to remember their umbilical cord area will be sensitive.... having said that.. are the you guys mainly going for onesies and what not? layette sets?

Also, she is due in February so I am guessing I need to find some sort of coat or wrap that will keep her warm.. as well as a warm hat and mittens..

We live in Florida and February can be one of our colder months (if we have any, at all)

Thanks for any and all help (:

I brought DD home in a warm sleeper. We just put blankets over the carseat and the car was warmed up.

My daughter was born in February. I just put her in comfy clothes (long sleeved onesie and pants). I also brought a hat and put a blanket it on her.

Biggest thing is nothing thicker than a sweater or sweatshirt under the car seat straps. Other than that, just pick something that you think is adorable.

I would do a comfy onesie and a blanket.

DD came home in her diaper with a light blanket over her carrier, but she was born in July and it was 112 degrees outside!

I feel very extravagant with what I bring my children home in....I go for Sunday's best. For my son he wore a suit, my daughter had a very frilly dress complete with match headband and shoes. This baby girl due any time has complete frilly dress like her big sister. I think for my personal tastes bringing them home is a celebration and I bring them home in the best.

I always bring a preemie, newborn and 0-3 mo outfit. Mine average 7ish lbs but all but one of them still wore preemie sizes for the first few weeks.

SO I'M NOT INSANE!

i want to buy a few preemie outfits - my son was full term but was only 4 lbs 15 oz. he was in preemie until 7-8 weeks. everyone thinks i'm crazy for wanting to pick up a few.

You can always donate them to the NICU if you end up not needing them.
