another nuva ring question...

posted 27th Sep
I can NOT get the nuva ring to stay up in my cervix for nothing. I've tried putting it in with a tampon applicator and everything. Is is still effective when it just sits in the vaginal canal? I have to push it back up in there at least twice a day. I only have two other birth control options, the pill and the patch and I hate both :/ i'm terrible at remembering to take the pill and the patch gets gross and irritating.

Any suggestions?

Aren't nuva rings supposed to be specifically sized for your body? (I'm not sure I've never had it). Maybe it's too small?

No they are one size. Which doesn't make since because every ones bodies are different. I'm just irritated with it. Like it just won't stay up there   It makes me feel like there is something wrong with my insides haha. I mean if its still effective sitting in the vaginal canal then Fine It can just stay where ever it will stay because the pill just won't cut it for me.

The pill definitely doesn't work for me either. I'm the worst at remembering medication lol. I'd contact your Dr and see what's up with it, maybe they'll have some more specific answers.

Do you insert the nuva ring yourself? or do you go to the Dr's to get it done?

from nuvaring site:
Gently push the folded ring into your vagina. The exact position of NuvaRing is not important for it to be effective. If you feel discomfort, NuvaRing is probably not inserted back far enough into the vagina. Use your finger to gently push the NuvaRing farther into your vagina.
Rest assured, NuvaRing cannot be pushed too far up or get lost in your body. In fact, NuvaRing cannot go farther than the cervix.

The NuvaRing doesn't go in your cervix..   It's suppose to be in your vaginal canal.

See I have inserted it as far as it will go SEVERAL times. I mean as long as it still works when its in there regardles if its like an inch from falling out then i'll probably just keep using it. Its irritating like i said but at least i wont forget about it haha like i would taking the pill. And you put it in yourself. I mean im sure if i asked my doc to show me how to put it in and all that i could but it would make me feel really weird. I guess my vaginal canal is bigger the the ring and just wont hold it in place?

How long have you been having troubles with it trying to fall out? There's days where Im pushing the stupid thing back up all the time because it keeps trying to fall out but it's not every day. I mean i think it works just the same but I'm always afraid it'll fall out and I won't notice.

Ask him if you need to. When I got mine my doctor put
It in for me and left so I could feel how it was placed and practice a few time. I would just twist it so it was ina figure 8 and shove it in. It doesn't matter how far up it is as long as it's in there and isn't uncomfortable for you
