Quoting * MRS KING *:" Wait until they hurt, not super bad but bad enough that you have to sit or freeze in one spot. Then go ... [snip!] ... as i lived right down the street from the hospital. I hated not getting to eat and having to lay in an uncomfortable bed. "Or you could just say no to the pitocin/IVs and be able to lay in bed/eat/labor naturally =) Of course this depends on OP's birth plan but yeah, no hospital can force you into taking meds to speed labor up just 'cause you show up and are in the early stages of labor.
Quoting Raptor Jesus (TTC):" Or you could just say no to the pitocin/IVs and be able to lay in bed/eat/labor naturally =) Of course ... [snip!] ... no hospital can force you into taking meds to speed labor up just 'cause you show up and are in the early stages of labor."They wouldnt let me eat because its the general rule, not because of the meds. I didnt start those until id been there for about ten hours, and they said my doc said too. I worried that my insurance put me on a time limit or something. And i laid in bed because of sciatica, not because of meds (though i had to after epidural four hours before i had her, 26 hour labor) but i definitely will be waiting a long time with this one.
