kidney stones?

what was your first clue/symptom that you had them?
I keep getting this bitchass pinching pain right around where my kidney is in my back that just about brings me to my knees and it doesn't feel like any kidney infection I've had. It almost feel as though I'm being stabbed.
And if I do suspect kidney stones do I need to bother with a doctor or hospital or can I just wait them out until they pass?
TIA

Stabbing pain is definitely a sign. I realized it was a kidney stone when the pain started moving around my side and down towards my bladder. They are awful little smurfers. You could go to the doctor for pain meds and/or to confirm its a kidney stone but otherwise you just have to pass it.

I had to go both times. For me the pain was constant. In my stomach and back, it also makes me really nauseous. I went in and they gave me morphine and medicine for the nausea. I was there for 8 hours but didnt pass it for days later. Im good with pain but the pain of kidney stones is unbelievable.

I had pain in my left side that radiated into my back. That was it. I thought it was a strained muscle.

I didn't know what it was. I was just in so much pain. I thought I was going into premature labor at 23 weeks. Went to the ER and said it was a UTI or kidney stone. Got meds for UTI and a couple days later I passed the stone.

Pain in my back and then horrible burning pain in my pee hole until I could pass them. lol And I couldn't actually pee. I had to pee every 5 minutes but it was always just a trickle until the stone would pass then it would go back to normal.
That pain was pretty much nothing compared to the kidney infection that I had a few days before that though.

the first time I got the stabbing pain was Friday evening and it's been in the same place every time I've had it. Could that still be stones?
I'm going to get checked out tomorrow regardless I guess.
