Tachycardia....

Anyone else familiar with this?
My pcp is convinced I have SVT or possibly mitrovalve prolapse. I am in the middle of changing insurance providers so I am waiting to get into a cardiologist. Shouldnt be much longer.
Anyways, I have pretty frequent tach episodes. Like at least 3 or 4 times a day and sonetimes more. They usually last only.about 3 minutes with no other symptoms besides the actual racing heart, a bit of tightness in my chest (I can breathe just fine) and my chest, neck and face become itchy.
Well yesterday I was grocery shopping when an episode came on. During an episode my heart races very fast, then slower but still above 100 bpm, then stops.
This episode started like that but continued for over 20 minutes! It would slow down and then spike back up. I tried several techniquesmy.doc had given and nothing was working. I was super scared. After I finally got it under control I had 7 other short episodes before I went to bed. I almost made a trip to the er.
So now my chest is sore like a bruise. I talked to my doc on the phone today and she said it was normal with SVT to have a pretty bad episode every now and then and that sometimes they have to.do some kind of shock thing to your heart to make it stop... eeeek!
Anyways, just wondering if anyone else had this and had been through something like that. I cant wait until we get the insurance settled and I get to see the cardiologist...
