She was humiliated as soon as the manager opened his douchebag mouth. She was humiliated as soon as he said something in front of other customers and treated her badly JUST BECAUSE of her food stamps.

If someone did that to me, I'd probably ask my friends what they think I should do too. Her facebook could be private for all you know.

Quoting Bam![Bad ass mommy]:]:" right! Why post it to your fb if you're so "ashamed" This smurf went viral. I mean look at the damn Yahoo comments. If she thought what the manager said was bad... she better think again."

I think what the manager said was rude as smurf.   Who the hell is he to think he's better than her, because they're having hard times? I hate people who judge simply because someone has government assistance. People don't know their life or their struggles. They don't need to judge.

She should just sit back and allow him to verbally harass other people. She should open her mouth. Problems cannot be fixed if no one wants to talk about them.

the story went viral AFTER she posted it to fb. If you're that humilated about it, I doubt you would be putting more attention and emphasis on it.
I doubted he treated her bad "just because" of her fs. We don't know what she said.
She should have left it alone after he said "to just give it to her"
But no-- she has to keep on insisting she was right in the first place.
The manager is a douche, no doubt... but I don't his remarks were unwarranted and unprovoked.
He probably shouldn't be working in customer service though.

That's very unprofessional. I don't care what your stance is on how people spend their food stamps, you keep your opinions to yourself in a professional environment.

Yeah. So, let me get this right. Say, a homosexual boy gets told, after having an argument about his grades by two teachers, that he's 10 points away in a class from a passing grade from graduating. Principal, to stop the argument, says to just let him pass the class. Kid still believes he was right. Principal says "I've got other hard working kids who actually work for their grades to worry about, not a little fag who uses his sexual preference to get special treatment and pass." Kid was in the closet, and the door to the office was open, and now the whole school knows he's gay, and he's humiliated.

So, should that kid just leave it alone too? Should he not ask his family and friends what he should do, and just drop it?

I think not. Same idea, different circumstances.

Totally different... your story is definitely stretching to say the least.
1. how can they be wrong about what fs covers... it's already in the computer, I honestly don't get how it's a mix up
2. He already let it pass, you just keep egging it on? That lady is a fkn adult... she got the food, move the hell on.
3. I already said he was a douche, but no way should this be NATIONAL, she honestly caused more humilation to herself, then the manager could ever have done, because instead of 10 people judging her and thinking this or that she has thousands thinking it.

It really just wasn't a smart move, if she was really "ashamed" and not doing it for attention.

How so? How is it totally different? It's basically the SAME situation, substituting food stamps for sexual preference. Both situations are bias and discrimination.

Some 'food' items are not covered by food stamps. She may not have known that, it could have been the first time she tried buying the items in question. You don't know.

Some people ARE Immature. No one said her egging it on was less than that. BUT, she did not deserve to get called out like that. I think getting the story out there can sometimes open the public's eyes to a bigger issue. Such as the utter lack of compassion some people have for those who are on welfare or food stamps.

Well, in your story, nobody knew the boy was homosexual. Anybody who was standing in line behind this woman knew she was on food stamps because there was an argument about said food stamps. It's not the same idea at all. The only thing she was humiliated about was the fact that he accused her of not working for her food. That's it. And while I think he was INCREDIBLY out of line by saying what he said, she DID egg it on by insisting she was right after she already got her way. LET IT GO if you're not trying to start trouble. I think both sides were wrong here.

Not if they were talking in hushed voices. For all you know, they were having a hushed conversation about the food stamps. So yeah, same idea.

DH is self employed. The money isn't great or we wouldn't be on FS, but it's still better than places where he's applied. Come on? Who can care for a family of 7 on 300/week? Not us...And that's if he's lucky. Most people I know around here make less than that weekly.

They screw up putting the information in the computers. It's a person doing it, errors are bound to happen.

She berated 2 other employees, for doing their job, before the manager came over.
