BC after pregnancy

posted 26th Sep
At my last OB appointment my doctor asked what kind of BC i was considering after giving birth. I got pregnant while i was on the pill. No, i never missed a pill. I heard the patch was just as bad as the pill and that the depo makes you gain weight. Anyone's thoughts on the implanon or nuva ring? If you have either one, what do you like or don't like about it?

IUD is the best, most effective form. Especially if hormone-based methods have failed you before!

I heard this too, but I got prego with Mirena. And actually delivered it with the baby in June. It was attached or stuck in the placenta. I think all forms of BC have some kind of risk.

Except for condoms! That is what DH and I use. It worked 100% for us for 6 years and we got pregnant on our third try then worked 100% after baby and we got pregnant again on our first try!

Ah, i totally forgot about Mirena. A friend of mine got pregnant on the nuva ring but I'm pretty positive it was because she took it out before having sex because she said it was uncomfortable? My aunt loved it and had it for like two years but said it started getting a funny smell? A couple people i know have had some problems with the implanon and had to get it removed. But i like that you don't have to worry about taking it every day or changing it. Eh they all kind of worry me.

Wow high five to you! At first all we used were condoms but then one broke and the scared me enough to tell my parents. I had gotten plan B that night but i didnt want to risk it anymore. ended up getting pregnant anyway. lol.

i decided to choose from mirana and implonon. i got freaked out when i heard how bad mirena hurts gettin put in and how u gotta stick ur fingers up there to feel the strings and some guys have got poked when having sex by the strings. so i ended up getting implonon. all they did was numb your arm with a shot then stuck a needle in and it injected into my arm. painless and took 1 oe 2 min. but ive had it for 3 months and have been spotting ever since. nothing bad. they said just give it time. but then ive heard of people who dont spot at all. id recomend implonon. nothing to worry bout. once its in its in for 3 years.

I have the implanon and I love it, I've tried the shot I didn't gain weight but I had a bad reaction to it, I won't do the pill cuz I don't even remember my medicine for colds and stuff and I will not get the mirena cuz of all the problems it has caused women in my family. I was told nuvaring isn't much protection my Dr has tons of patients pregnant while using it. So I told my husband if the implanon doesn't work its condoms and being really careful lol

I have been on Depo for almost a year. I love it. One shot every 3 months. And I don't have to worry about pills or rings or whatever. I also haven't had a period in over a year. That is quite nice.
