My cousin's name is Melana and we pronounce it Ma-Lay-Na.
Do know if its just because we are Mexican and that's how our culture says it or not.

In Spanish it's Meh-lah-nah

The vowels never change in Spanish

A sounds like Ah
E sounds like Eh
I sounds like EE
O sounds like Oh
U sounds like OO (in Moo or Boo)

If you want to make an EYE sound you would have to put AI together (AH-EE).

When Hispanics live in the USA many of them (from what I've seen) use the English/American pronunciation of names. I named my spawn Novalee, but changed the spelling to Novali for the pronunciation and pronounce it in Spanish. So I did the same thing! haha

I have a distant relative with the name, she pronounces it ma-leh-na. Considering the origins its probably not pronounced ma-lee-na/ma -leen-a
