No heartbeat at 6weeks

posted 25th Sep
My husband and I have been trying for about 6 months and weren't getting pregnant, we were doing temperature readings and after about a month of that I decided we should just go in and make sure everything was alright with both of us. We went to the doctors office on September 5th and took a urine sample just to make sure and I was not pregnant. We sat down and went over our options and that afternoon we bought ovulation kits and a prescription of chlomid. I was supposed to have my period between the 6th and 10th, by 9/11/12 I still hadn't had my period so we took a test that morning and I was pregnant!! We went into see the doctor the next day and it was confirmed. I had blood drawn and hormone levels were rising as they should be! However, the determination of how far along I was became questionable because I am on a 35-37 day cycle. We had a vaginal ultra sound and saw the baby and my doctor discovered that I was about 4 weeks pregnant. We came back yesterday and we didn't see a heartbeat, he took me another room to be viewed through a 3 dimensional ultrasound machine and still nothing. My doctor told me that I was at 6 weeks 4 days based on measurements of the embryo and that they embryo stopped growing on Saturday or Sunday. They brought me in his office to discuss our "options" I am now set up for another ultrasound tomorrow afternoon to confirm and then a DNC on Thursday morning.... My husband and I went to our families homes to not only tell them that I was pregnant but that we lost the baby. When we got home we were still in shock and we looked at our temperature chart and if we conceived on August 27, which is the earliest day that this could have happened, we would only be at 6 weeks as of yesterday. Correct??? I feel like my doctor is jumping the gun or there is something else wrong with this baby. They also discovered that I have a bicornuate uterus and will have problems carrying a baby once I conceive. I'm feeling so lost and confused. I don't want to lose a baby that is still alive but I also just want the right answers and wished we would've waited another week to have our first ultrasound... What should I do? We are trying to find the best specialists in the area and another opinion.

I guess I would personally wait a couple weeks and see if my body naturally miscarried. And if not then go back for the u/s.

I don't want to give you false hope, but...

I was told that I MCed at 6 weeks and was being pushed to have a D&C, I refused and decided to let my body reject the pregnancy naturally. At 8-9 weeks, I went to the hospital because I was vomiting blood and they did an ultra-sound. I'm now 25 weeks and though I'm high risk, everything looks fine.

I'd not get a D&C until you bleed..... This actually is very common in the USA as well as other countries.

Also, if you have an MC, know that you can get pregnant again and though it hurts, you will be okay.

I'm sorry.

Oh, they couldn't find the baby at 6 weeks. Just the sac.

yeah but it starts 2 weeks before conception

OP, wait it out and see what happens. Tell them you don't want a D&C you want your body to do it naturally, sometimes it can take a month to miscarry. There's nothing wrong with that, and I *think* D&Cs can mess up your smurf down there even more for future pregnancies.

Ask if you can go back in a week or 2 for another u/s

You are already "technically" 2 weeks pregnant at conception... so she'd be ~6 weeks.

OP I'm sorry you're going through this. I, personally, have never been through this but I agree with the other ladies. I'd wait it out to see if you miscarry naturally. If in a couple weeks there's still no heartbeat and you aren't miscarrying, I'd start talking D&C.

The doctor gave me three options:
1. The D&C
2. Naturally miscarry but that this could take weeks and this is just so hard for me because I really want this to be over and start trying immediately.
3. Take medicine that would force the baby to bleed out.
I'm also now even more scared that I will never be able to carry a baby full term because of my "horn shaped" uterus....
Yes, if we conceived on August 27th, yesterday would've made it exactly 6 weeks but the lady who gave me the three dimensional ultrasound said that she measured the baby at 6 weeks 4 days. I'm just so confused and feel like it might look like I don't trust them when that's definitely not the case, I just want to make sure that they have everything correct when just a few days are so crucial.

Do it the natural way. Thats the only way to know for sure you're not making a mistake.
Doctors arent perfect, and theyre not God.

Let it go naturally if possible... remember, many, many women are misdiagnosed!! I was!
