It depends on the employer. Lots of employers pay for 6 weeks.

Agree. I don't need the government as my parent. I can be the adult and plan appropriately.

If it's just your money, why don't you just keep more of your money and hold onto it until you go on maternity leave?

That's not really paid leave, that's more or a savings thing. I would much rather be aloud to save my money an use it how I see fit. Get what I mean? Here when I am told paid leave, it's a benifit your job gives you, like 2 weeks off paid, not my money I saved to take time off

Just parents who work...you have to pay into for a set amount of time before you can claim it.

I had to be employed at least a year in order to be eligible for mat leave
