I seriously think if your that oblivious to what you kid is doing then damn.

As far as conplications go if it's a teenager in sure that they'd have to sign a waiver which they can also do at a planned parenthood without a parent.

Some school do dispense condoms. Also I'm sure there will be some form of document that the parent ha to sign at the beginning of the school year for these types of services.

Yeah parents were given a permission form at the beginning of the year to opt out.

Id be fine with it... I was able to go to a clinic and get it,

My husband has picked it up for me, so I'm sure my daughter could find *any1* over age of 18 to get it for her if she needed it... *shrug*

Quoting Tiger Lily ♥:" I think that's a very broad way of looking at it. I know, as a teen, I never once looked at abortion ... [snip!] ... some students think that? Maybe. BUT, allowing access to these items isn't going to encourage unprotected sex, in my opinion."

And I disagree. The first few times... they probably won't use the pill as a sole method of birth control. But once they get into the routine of, "Hey... I can have unprotected sex, which feels SO much better than sex with a condom, and then just go to school in the morning and get a pill just in case."

Kids really are like that. Smurf, I was like that... I hated using condoms because I felt what it was like without one, and didn't want to use one anymore (though I still did). And personally, if I knew my school was handing out morning after pills... I'd be more careless. But, since they weren't handing those out... I was on BC. Because I was taught safe sex, versus what to do after unprotected sex.

Our school system isn't even allowed to give out Tylenol without a parent bringing it to the school and giving it to the child. I would be pissed if they gave my child anything without my consent morning after pill or not.

I didn't think you were allowed to get Plan B twice within a certain amount of time though? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Then I believe the program is an excellent idea and parents aren't forced into it.
Also if they do that I believe the school should add more educations on the actual plan b and maybe even monitor it. Like who has used it and how many times they've asked for it to help prevent carelessness.
Some kids are super naive and just can't Handel the responsibility that cones with having sex. I still believe its a good idea for the school to have some form of prevntative care options for the students.

Honestly, many teens are just as scared of pregnancy as they are of sexually transmitted diseases. There is no out for herpes, so saying that kids will automatically act more carelessly because of an out for pregnancy is kind of ridiculous. Teens are going to act carelessly, with or without an out. The fact that the pill IS there is better. Who cares, though? If a teen wants to have unprotected sex and risk pregnancy and STDs, at least they have access to a pill that will stop them from bringing a child into the world at the wrong time.

Meaning...I would rather a 15 year old take 4 morning after pills than have 4 children.

If that's the case... then the schools point is moot.

What if after the first potential pregnancy the teen has decided to make better decisions?

I think it's like one or two cycles.

But in Ny you don't needs a parents permission to obtain an abortion either so really, if worse comes to worse they always have that option as well.

But like another person said... if there's a medical limit on the numbers of pills allowed in x amount of time, what's the point of the school even doing it?

I remember that if you were caught with a condom at school, you had it taken away and got sent to the counselor. Smurfin' bible belt, I swear.

Meh. I still just don't agree with it. The abortion thing, either. That's a medical procedure and the parent SHOULD be notified. If the kid is 16 and can consent for a medical procedure, why the smurf can't they consent to a facial piercing?

That just doesn't make sense to me. At all.
