Low Cervix. Possible TMI

posted 24th Sep
Okay so I'm 8 weeks and 2 days PP. And I've been feeling my nuva ring so I decide to check myself to make sure it wasn't falling out or something. I got half my finger in when I felt my cervix.. It's not supposed to be this low is it?? Should I call my OB?

You might have a prolapse. That's how mine has been since I had my second daughter and she is almost two, and the position of my cervix has not improved.

Doesn't the cervix lower a bit during ovulation??? I didn't check my cervix while TTC, but if I remember correctly that's what I read somewhere when I was reading about how to do it.

What exactly is a prolapse?

The position of you cervix changes throughout your cycle. If you're close to when you get your period or ovulation it can be low. During the other times it can be high, as well as during arousal.

Though if you're worried you can ask your Gyno.

Cervix isn't that low during ovulation

The organs are attached to a wall of tissue, and sometimes under a lot of stress like pregnancy and delivery the tissues can weaken and the organs can drop or fall. So you can have a prolapse of anything, bladder, bowel, uterine, cervix, etc.

So in a case where your cervix is very low you could have a degree of uterine prolapse, or your cervix has prolapsed.
I personally have never went to the doctor about mine because they can't really do anything about it.. they can reattach it or 'sling', but it will fall again with age. Or they will insert something up your vagina to keep everything in place, which I think interferes with sex.

Wow. That's crazy. I've never heard of something like this. So another question.. Sorry I'm full of them. With my cervix being so low would it effect me getting the Mirena? My OB wanted to wait till I got my annual in November to put it in because my blood levels have been extremely low(I hemmorhaged after having my son) that's why I'm on the nuva ring for now. So now with it being low I'm worried.

I'm not sure if it would affect you getting the Mirena. It shouldn't be a problem but you might be able to feel the strings easily.

Damn. That's what I'm worried about. I heard it's not pleasant to feel the strings for both you and your partner.

Well thank you for the information! I guess I will just have to see what my OB says when I go for my physical in November

Maybe I have a prolapse then... sometimes my cervix literally is almost out of my vaginal canal (sorry for TMI)... but I had a mirena without issue for almost 2 years (I only got it out because we wanted to start trying for another baby).

Ya mine feels so low. Kinda feels like my nuva ring is going to fall out ugh. Well if your cervix was that low and you didn't have a problem with the mirena hopefully I will too!

Mine's not always low. It moves with my cycle. Like, right now it's low, soft, and open because I'm on my period. So I dunno about the prolapse.

To be honest, the wire was a little bit annoying when my cervix was low...but I would just adjust the strings and it'd be ok again. It was definitely worth the lack of worry about pills/etc and I didn't bleed anymore for mooooonnnnths. It... was... awesome!

Definitely could be. I've been TTC so I've been checking my cervix position. It was a bit low last week (which gave me indication that I wasn't pregnant since that meant my period was on it's way).
