I read about that place, it helped solve a lot of crimes by studying the decomposition rate with different elements. Cool place, icky, but interesting, LOL

It wasn't just you...it stinks!...lol
It's not the smell of rot, but it's the formaldehyde. Yuck.
We had to do that too in anatomy. The ones in anatomy 2 got to cut it up for extra credit..no thanks to that.

Yes I would. No real reason. Just curious.

I've always wondered how well people are preserved underground in those vaults, inside a casket with all those chemicals pumped in them.

Not very well. Decomp is usually slowed down, but it is still faster than most people think. There are bugs called Coffin Flies that have adapted to not be effected by formeldihyde and can decompse a body in about 50 days. They also cannot drown, so are not effected by flooding.

You might like the book called Stiff: The Curious Life of Human Cadavers.

I read about that in a book ! Very fascinating, especially for students!

To answer the OP, I could probably see it if they gave me a gas mask. I cant handle odors well!

I think i'm the only person that couldn't smell the formaldehyde!

All the girlfriends and wives would complain about how bad their husbands smelled after gross anatomy and I never smelled anything haha.
