Quoting Mama k ♥ (9 weeks):" The neighboor should have wrote the license plate down. Did they?"I'm a little bothered that she saw this happening and didn't even tell the guy anything. I get people don't want to get involved with these kind of things but like a loud "HEY!" or something to deter the guy would have been nice.

Have you taken any steps to get her back?

File a police report?
Inform local vets and shelters?

We haven't filed a police report since I don't think there is much they could do. (although having it in writing is probably better than not).

We have left our fliers with the vets and shelters within 20 mins from our area. We also posted on CL (plus I check ALL day long to see if the jerk is trying to sell her on there along with ebay classified and oodle). and have posted signs all around our city.
I have been checking the online combined websites for all the shelters listing in the area for the dogs they find in real time.

I've also been asking people who live around the area where I'm posting the signs to see if they've seen her.
I've also registered with our counties lost dog network and they will email me when a dog fitting her description shows up at any of the shelters.

SO also has a friend who works at the city's park so he's on the look out for her as well.

and I walk around the area daily hoping to see her behind someone's gate but of course they probably either have moved her or have her inside.

Since she's a brown husky (not common at all in our area), it would be obvious she's ours if she's still in our city.

I would definitely file a police report, if you do find her it will be better for your case to get her back (I'm sure the guy who took her will try to say you are lying and it's his dog)

I was wondering the same thing. What if someone came looking for them since you have to open the gate to knock on the door right and she ran off. Or even after the owners left she must of had anxiety and went after them especially if she saw her owners leave. Sorry Op.

I agree and never leave your dog in the front yard. Anything can happend especially when you are not close by or home.

We found out via the neighbor that a guy was waiting for SO to leave. After he left he opened the gate, took her out and carried her to his car.

I agree on not leaving her outside on her own. We typically don't do that but SO thought the 20 mins it was going to take me to get home was safe. Obviously not.

I also want to mention I've gotten so many calls from the fliers we posted but they all turn up to not be our dog.
But at least we know people are looking at our fliers and are trying to help.
