re: Our dog was stolen

We have two Siberian huskies. One was almost stolen when she was a puppy from a park! They are expensive! People are so shady. I hope your puppy turns up though

  I just imagine how crushed my 4 yr old would be as well so I can only imagine how yOu feel. I know what you mean. And don't feel bad. We leave our dog out when we leave all the time. You never expect them to get dognapped   I hate to leave him indoors all the time. He's chipped though. We got it when he got fixed. But being chipped doesn't keep them from being stolen. Only helps if they get taken to a vet or shelter.

I went posting more signs with LO around the neighborhood and saw a trend. There were at least 6 other husky dogs missing in my area

Someone is probably looking to breed them.

We have several smurf zhus in our area. Post with your vets, if they end up breeding them and they take the puppies or parents in for shots or something, the vets will identify them. Also, keep an eye out for puppy listings.

that is so heartbreaking. i am so so sorry. what a beautiful dog, too. i thought our bulldog was stolen a few weeks ago, we found him down the road sitting on a random porch sunbathing, but it was an agonizing couple of hours and i cried my eyes out... i can only imagine... you guys are in my thoughts

I keep checking our counties lost and found dog listings (they update in real time) just wishing I find her there.

Hopefully we'll find her eventually.

She can be bred as soon as she bleeds, someone who steals dogs isn't going to wait until she's 2 to breed.

List with husky rescues, too and start a FB chain. Also post at the shelters in case she gets away and someone finds her.

That really sucks, Im sorry poor Nate. She was still a puppy so I doubt she jumped, I have to agree with you that she was most likely stolen.

Last year during a summer thunder storm one of our boxers jumped after hearing lighting. She jumped the 6ft fence in the backyard and the 4 ft fence in the front =/ We went looking everywhere around here and at the dog pound, never found her. Amory still asks for her, and whenever we go get one of our dogs license she remembers going to look for our dog there.

Also about them being chipped, that wont GPS your dog, it'll only work if its scanned by a vet or animal shelter. I had my first bulldog stolen back in 08, to this day I haven't found her. (She was chipped)

My SO just called me and told me it was confirmed that she was stolen.
One of the neighbors said they saw a guy open our gate and put the dog in his car.

I don't have much more info than this. I'll be asking the SO for more details when I get home.

I would call the cops and let local vets know, go around to the local vets and give them a picture of her with any unique descriptions and her name and tell them she was stolen and to call you and/or the police if someone comes in with her.


Even if she wasn't stolen and had jumped the fence, she most likely would have come home. Dogs usually know to come home after a while to where they are fed.

did the neighbor get a description of the guy and car? call and file a police report, that dog was your personal property and had a value of at least $1000 (probably more I'm guessing.) so whether or not you think they wont care that your dog was stolen, they have to care that it was property that was stolen and had a decent worth.

Unfortunately because of her breed and her coloring and markings she's a high theft risk cutiepie for theft. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Now that you've got someone saying that they say it call the cops and make a report. That way if you get any more leads they have a foundation to work off of. I hope you get her back!

  I hate that this is a reminder for us to not leave our doggie out. I'm so sorry it just breaks my heart for you. I know what it's like having that perfect dog. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you!
