Scared for a c-section.

posted 22nd Sep
Ok my doctor striped my membrains on the 20th and i was 2 cms then. I started to have very strong contractions later that night so i went in to l&d and i was still only 2 cms. My ob said that i should of dilated more and if i keep having strong contractions and not dilateing that i would have to have a c-section  I dont want one at all and i went in last night and i was still only 2 cm then and im still having contractions. How is a c-section? im so scared about having one. I really wanted a natural birth but now i dont think i can .

why would he opt for a csection and not just try to induce you or just wait?

You're not due for 2 more weeks but can go 2 weeks over that. Don't stress, stress can halt labor. And don't let your dr talk you into a c-section.

That's a load of crap. You can refuse c-section like you can an induction if all is well.

he said with me having contractions and not dilating that if he would try that it might not help at all. but i think he said he might try that first not if it dont work then i get a c-section.

That's weird...I was at 1cm for a week and was having regular contractions, they finally broke my water and I was able to have a normal vaginal delivery.

are they legit contractions or just braxton hicks? are you in pain? and csection is the only thing he mentioned nothing like trying to induce you or wait it out unless its causing stress to the baby...

Your dr is dumb. Seriously. Idiototic.

Today is the 22nd. You're due on the 6th. That is two weeks from now. Some women don't dilate (and shouldn't really) until full blown labor hits.

am scheduled for my own c-section on the 19th of November and I am scared too. Never had one but I have head that once you feel your legs if you get up and start moving around you will recover alot quicker. A friend of mine had one and she babied herself way to much and it got to the point where she ended up going to ER for her back (after she had been home for roughly a month) because she just wasnt doing things normally but watching what she lifted and following the guidelines she just babied it. She ended up in PT for a few months and in a recliner chair both day and night that would mechanically push her to a certain point where she then received help getting up the rest of the way.
I personally dont plan on that being me. I am going to be taking it easy and following the guidelines but I also have a 4 yr old to take care of so I am going to be taking it as easy as I can without over doing it. But I guess c-sections arent so bad it just take awhile longer to recover because it is major surgery. Good luck an dI hope the Dr decides to try and induce you befoe resorting to a c-section.

I didn't till labor. I went 5 days over, I was never stripped or induced. I went all on my own.

They were going 3 to 5 mins apart last night but i went to bed and woke up with them today but i havnt really kept track of them today because i was so tried for some reason. Also my son is on my kidney so he is trying to get me to start my labor early because of that. But i dont think he would rush a c-section but i know he would make me have one if i dont dilate fast enough:/

That's crap.
I was contracting for weeks, and only 1cm. My doctor even told me that's completely normal for a first time mother.

Your doctor's taking advantage of you to put more money in his pocket by giving you a c-section.

You can flat out refuse a c section. It is YOUR choice. But if you go past 42 weeks, then they induce, and induction can lead to c section. I dont want one either, but there is always a chance you will have to have one. So educate yourself, read all the info you can get your hands on. It'll make it less scary. Just relax and take it a day at a time.

Soudns like he is c-section happy. Just wait it out. You have more than enough time and I had regular contractions with both of my kids and didn't dilate till I was in labor labor...as in giving birth within 24 hrs.
