Reassure me.

I have my 40 week appt on Sept 26, with me being "due" on the 24th. They said if I'm still pregnant then, they're obviously going to schedule me for an induction. Which I'll do. Doesn't mean I won't call a day or two beforehand to cancel, because I DON'T WANT an induction just for being past my EDD, but maybe if I actually schedule it, my body will just go ahead and get on with it beforehand lol.

So, the nurse practitioner said they don't like you going past 41 weeks, but they will NOT let you go past 42 weeks. She said after 41 weeks they see a big increase in "problems," and of course, that has me worried. But at the same time, 42 weeks is still "term," right? 38-42 weeks is term? Either way, if there are no issues medically, should I wait it out until 42 weeks, if I don't go into labor by myself? I still think chances are good that I'll go naturally, but that one comment they make automatically digs itself into my brain and I keep double thinking myself, even though I know induction isn't necessary.

Wait until 42!

Honestly I am all for girls waiting to have their babies, and saying no to induction. That being said, I personally would induce at 41 weeks. I have heard SO many horror stories about the placenta deteriorating and people loosing their babies, because they wanted a natural birth. You do what you feel that you need to do! Don't let them push it on you if you don't want it!!! Good luck, and congrats!

Tell them that you are not willing to schedule until at least 41 1/2 weeks if you don't want to do it. The placenta eventually starts breaking down but midwives (at the practice my sister went to) have encouraged women go around 43 or 44 weeks as long as intervention is not medically necessary. I was induced at 41 1/2 weeks with my first and the day after my due date with my second. My second was a VBAC and if I wanted to attempt it she had to come before I was 41 weeks due to the way my scar tissue stretched.

No 42 isnt term, its post term, and at that point the placenta could be compromised. But if you dont want to induce AT ALL, wait till 42.

I don't want to be induced because it's not necessary in my case, yet, and because with my first child, I was induced and it didn't go very well   I really don't want that at all. I want my chance at going into labor naturally, and having everything.. just.. nice. You know? No medicine, delayed cord clamping, pushing naturally, all that good stuff. I couldn't have that with DD. I also don't want 40+ weeks to come and me have to make a 45-60 min drive every two days for a non-stress test. But that's no reason to induce, either...

And the placenta thing is there in my mind, too. But I know there's no specific time table for that to happen. It just eventually will...

Exactly. A due date can be wrong 2 weeks either way. So if you wait until 42 weeks, you could really be 44 weeks. I don't know it's just not some thing I would risk.

And there's that! With my daughter, they completely calculated wrong, and I, for some stupid reason, didn't figure it out until well afterwards! They calculated my cycle off of a normal 28 day cycle, and I was going months without a period. With this one, I know when my last period was, I tested with a BFP the day my period was due, and was late, and had an early US and all that. I'm fairly confident my EDD is accurate (in the sense...) this time around.

I know I still have time to go into labor naturally, but I'm starting to reach that point of feeling like since it hasn't happened yet, it just won't happen at all!

Noo! I don't feel that way. Most people go into labor naturally. With my first, I had NO signs, symptoms anything, until my contractions started and she was born 21 hours later. My second I had to be induced because they said she was "big" I don't really regret being induced honestly, except for the pain! My epidural made me itch, and the meds to stop the itching counteracted the epidural! So it was a loose loose, I felt every thing. Just do what you feel is right! You've carried this baby for over 9 months. Your body knows what to do. Although, if you go get a NST and they say some thing isn't right, or low HB or whatever, I would go with the induction or the c section. (My thoughts are all over the place right now, and I'm holding my LO, so sorry if this is a little bit confusing haha.)
