I was induced with pitocin. They broke my water at 4cm and I was 10cm 10 minutes later. I had no time for any pain meds or epidural. It wasn't that bad. I was so motivated by the pain that my son was out in two pushes. It was actually a very calm birth.. I didn't scream or anything. I'm planning to have this baby as natural as possible.

My first I had a pit, and I went without pain meds it was HORRIBLE. But my second and third no pits no pain meds and it was so much easier and not that painful. It was controlable pain, hard to explain. But with pit it is a drug induced contraction so it is way more strong and more painful then if you were to not have one and just do all natural.   either way worth it, I just would NEVER do a pit again!

I wasn't induced but I had Pit with both deliveries. So I went into labor myself, but they gave me Pit during delivery.

I had an epi with one, and no epi with the other.

I went from about that to 10 and delivered in 31 minutes my doctor went like this  ... They had given me morphine at the same time. That was with my son.

with my DD they made me wait for pain meds because they didnt want them to effect her.... But then they only worked for about a half hour if that....I just wanted it to be over.... I had her at 10 something and then went to the OR room as soon as she was out for an emergency D and C i did not deliver her plecenta and i ended up needing 2 units of blood ill take my son's birth over my daughters any day.

I recommend you have them break your water first. Then resort to pit if need be! Everyone is different, but I had mine maxed out and it was horrible. But either way without epideral you recover faster. Less risk to baby, and you can get up right after.

after 24hrs of labor and i made it to 4cm i got an epidural...the contractions hurt too bad for me. i was induced and had my water broke shortly after because i didnt progress. the epidural relaxed me. after induction i stooped at 6 1/2. i ended up with a c section fast and painless(until after the drugs wear off)

I think I'm just a weirdo.

OP, it's definitely doable and if your mindset is that way, it really helps! I know that if I can do natural with full blown Pitocin, that I could probably handle a labor with no Pitocin. I just really liked being able to eat and get up and pee, and take a shower on my own really soon after giving birth. I was taking walks up the halls within 4 hours because I was stir crazy from being on hospital bedrest for 5 days. Lol. Both of my labors with Pitocin were 6 hours. I do think that having your water broken helps. You could see if your doctor is comfortable with using a foley bulb to help dilate you, then breaking your water to avoid Pitocin immediately.

See lol, once my water was broke he came out in two pushes! But they made me suffer through the dang pit for 4 hours before breaking my water.

My second and third were that way, the staff was ready for my first, but the last two didn't believe me I was ready. I have quick labors so they aren't used to it.
