Whooping cough question

I had a sore throat for a few days, and as of yesterday I got a runny nose.
I feel like I just have a cold, so it's not a big deal.

Last night a few hours after she went to bed, my 3 1/2 year old woke up screaming that her mouth hurt (she was pointing at her throat) and sounded all congested. Today she started making the whooping noise.

Symptoms:
stuffy/runny nose
temp of 100.9
cough
sore throat

I want to be able to let them know she won't be at school tomorrow if she shouldn't go.

Does she sound like a seal? Could be croup. A person with whooping cough generally has a very violent (for lack of a better term) cough. Sometimes it can lead to vomiting and busted blood vessels in the face and eyes. I mean, it could be pertussis, but I hope not. Poor baby.

She's had croup and she's never gasped for breath afterwards like this. Sometimes she has trouble breathing after coughing.

No I haven't yet. I'm going to call and see what he thinks, and then probably bring her to urgent care since her pedi is like 45 minutes away.
