I don't think they can tell early on, but i'd talk to a dr about it. Don't have children of my own yet, but a family member of mine found out when her son was 9-10 though he also has other special needs as well which made it hard to pick up.

Well. It's hard to explain.
My best friend's nephew was diagnosed with Autism when he was about 1.. He had an anger therapist by 1 1/2, and had a vest and blanket that had weights in them..
They'd have the vent on him 24/7, and a blanket to calm him down when he had an "episode". When he was 4, they realized it was not Autism, but.. (I can't really remember) but they said it was like a sensitivity issue.

Xander acts EXACTLY like him.
I mean... I can hardly believe how similar they are to me.
He smashes his face against the wall, door, window, bites himself, punches, slaps, and pinches himself... Hell, even when his diaper is off, he'll pinch, scratch, and pull his pee pee until he LITERALLY passes out from crying.
He's really smart... In my eyes, and a lot of other peoples...
There is just something off about him.
I can't put my finger on it.
I don't want to seem paranoid, but like I said.. He acts the exact same way my friend's nephew did/does.

My son was very young when he was diagnosed with Autism, something like 14-15 months. He had such classic signs of it that the developmental pediatrician knew right away he was Autistic. She spent a few hours with him but it only took a few minutes for her to make her judgment. She said he was the youngest child she had ever diagnosed at the time. If your son is Autistic, or even if he just has developmental issues, getting your son into early intervention is so important right now. I am so grateful for the help I got after my son was diagnosed. Early intervention was the key for success for my little guy. He is 7 now. He was diagnosed MMR, and severe Autism. Now he is classified as mildly Autistic. He use to be non-verbal but now he speaks (Not so clearly but we can understand him) in sentences. I am so proud of him!!!  ) Best of luck to you and your son!!!
