I feel like a crappy mom
posted 19th Sep
My husband walked out on DD and me when DD was just 2 weeks old. He hasn't been around at all and has only seen her a handful of times since she was born. I have been doing it by myself with small breaks here and there from my parents but grandparents will be grandparents and the second she begins to fuss she is right back in my arms. I am also a full time online student and part time employee and I am breastfeeding. I feel like I have nothing to myself anymore so I started going on a nightly run just to get away for a little bit. I feel like such a smurffy parent for just wanting to get away from DD, my parents and life for 30 minutes a night. Does this make me a smurffy mom?

Not at all. Everyone needs something just for them.

No that most def. does NOT make you a bad mom!
You work, go to school, and take care of your daughter alone. It can get stressful and every mama still likes to have some time to do something for themselves alone in peace and quiet. It does not make you a bad mom.
Running is a positive, healthy thing too. I would love to go take a jog right now in this weather lol. I feel like it would be a great stress reliever...

You guys make me feel so better. It gets stressful trying to get classwork done while caring for a 2 month old by myself. My parents are a huge help I wouldn't be where I am right now if it weren't for them. Since I started working again though DD has gotten so clingy I just need some time to myself sometimes I don't even get that extra space at night because we co-sleep. Don't get me wrong I love DD more then anything in the universe but sometimes I just need a break from her. I also find myself taking extra long showers just to be alone. I guess every mom goes through this

Not at all. I am a full time online student as well and a single mom. My mom watches her once a week so I can go out and have fun with my boyfriend and destress from the week. Every parent needs time to themselves.
