Would you give her a pixie cut?

posted 19th Sep
Basically, I'm so tired of the daily struggle and screaming match when it comes to brushing my daughters hair. she screams like I'm killing her. Even the neighbors have commented on it

Would you give a 4 year old a "pixie" cut?

As long as she knew what it was,
and wanted it, so she doesn't feel like it looks 'boy-ish' once it's done & gets upset,
i would.
It'd be cute on her too.

Nope, I'd tell her to cut the crap or she is in trouble. She's old enough. But that's just me  .

She's 4... if you give up on the battle of basic care... how will you guide her through other things?

is it a pain thing? are you using conditioner? My oldest has long hair... she put conditioner in it... and brush it while in the tub... makes it much easier to brush after she's out.

She doesn't have a clue and I don't think she would totally understand that it is gone. I don't think she would voluntarily have it done

all I can think is as a girl.. what a horrible punishment it would be to bget a "boy cut" because I wouldn't behave. : (

She doesn't like ANYTHING near her head. She has a huge sensory issue with it.

i do reg conditioner, leave in conditioner, and a finishing serum (frizzease) and it's still knotted 10 minutes later

she would. My daughter was barely 3 when she cut her OWN hair. When she looked in the mirror.. she cried because she looked like a boy.

it took DAYS of us telling her how adorable she was with cute hair for her to stop whining that she looked like a boy now.

hmm... in that case... maybe google pictures of beautiful women with short hair... and make a big deal about how easy it would be to take care of...less brushing etc..

and... encourage HER to decide she wants it like that?

but.. short hair still needs brushing.. less knots.. but looks crazy if not fixed daily.

I'm gonna see if I can convince her to do it herself.

I know short hair still needs to be brushed, but it'll be easier I think

Can you start using a detangler in the bathtub and then french braiding it?

She won't tolerate ANYTHING being done to her hair. The only time she voluntarily lets me put it up is when she is going in the pool (and even that has a fight too)

I wouldn't. I would just keep brushing it, and make her listen. I dealt with it with Elena. She has SUPER fine hair that tangles in such crazy knots. It takes like 20 minutes to do her hair and she barely has any. And she'd scream the whole time and run away from me.

I just kept making her sit and get it brushed. And she eventually got over it. She still fights me sometimes, but eh, she's 4, and she's bratty sometimes.
