LUPUS-

posted 22nd May
I was wondering if anyone out there has lupus or another chronic disease that they are dealing with during pregnancy?
I went to my Rhumatologist a few days ago and she said that I am having a flare up of the disease (autoimmune-- too many antibodies) Things that subsided at the begining of the pregnancy have started coming back the last 2 months.
- 3-4 migranes a week
- Arthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Weakness/ loss of apetite

ALL OF THAT on top of the normal third trimester stuff.
I am constantly taking tylonel 3 for all the pain (which I hate taking anything while prego) Many days it hurts to just get up in the morning.
BECAUSE of all this my Rhumatologist wanted me to start my old medication ( which i was taken off due to preg) Plaquenel - its an antimaleria drug. Saying I am far enough along if anything goes wrong i can have him---( keep in mind her priority is treating me for a life threating disease) BUT I said no to that. That there is no WAY I am gonna take that now- For the first 2-3mo I started it last year I was SICK all the time-- it basically posions you until you aare used to it.
So my question is that my OB had told me that my boy is measuring a few weeks bigger ( I am almost at 32weeks) Do any of you know of them inducing when you are "to term" at whatever 35-37weeks due to a chronic illness. I am going to mention it to my dr cause I cannnot continue like this for 9 more weeks--

I have grave's disease, also an autoimmune, and my mother has lupus. I can relate to you believe me...not like pregnancy isnt hard enough and then you throw a chronic disease on top of it..i also have hx of premature labor with my first child and a heart condition as well...fun isn't it ?

Quoting 13 Weeks 2 Go!!:“ I have grave's disease, also an autoimmune, and my mother has lupus. I can relate to you believe me...not ... [snip!] ... disease on top of it..i also have hx of premature labor with my first child and a heart condition as well...fun isn't it ?”

I have an appt in an hour and i am gonna mention induction early-- which to me sounds logical esp cause they estimated a 9-10lb boy to term. I just want her to take it seriously not just like ABSOLUTLY NOT or something. who knows but i also dont want her to think i am selfish or something. but i am sure all my pain is bad on him aswell--

My aunt has lupus, was lucky to have her one awesome son and actually did great using acupuncture, in fact she still uses it to this day and is almost drug free because of it.
Myself with the acupunture, I loved it, haven't had to take prescirption meds in years for horrible allergies that left my eyes swollen, nose blocked, throat itchy, lungs wheezing....more or less I was monster like..... now nothing!!! Just a halls once in a while to clear up the nose and some tissues!!!
I say look into accupuncture.

i have the opposite problem, my heart meds cause growth retardation in the baby, i have already been in hospital once for early dilationa and she needs to saty in for as long as possible..probably wont be 40 weeks, but thats okay because i cant be pregnant for that long!!! I would shoot someone!! I wasnt diagnosed until after my first child, so after this one i am advised not to have any more due to the high risk it puts me into...but at least i will have two beautiful girls!!

I was just prescribed Darvaset by my OB- and Predizone from my rhumatologist. She is having me do a BIG ultrasound on monday to see his growth and development -- My BP was 138/82 today which is quite a big increase considering I am normally like 110/70 or something like that. SO she says it will be good to know his accuarate size if she has to induce and shes saying that I need to do a planned C-section cause I have to many problems going on and a natural would be too stressful for my body.
