C-Sections and Plus Sized Mamas?

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this? I especially wondered if the added weight of, ahem, pudge might put too much stress on staples or stitches. I hope I don't have to find out, but wanted to know what you ladies had experienced/ heard. Thanks!

I am plus sized and had a c section with my first and am having another one this time too. I did just fine, healed really nicely, and actually did better than some of my not so plus sized friends. I don't think it makes a difference.

I had my last one via section and was about 265 when having him, he was 11.4lbs and to big.... anywho, I got the staples and I swear I couldn't move witout feeling as if they were going to rip out of my skin. Besides that you have to constantly make sure that the area is dry by applying papertowels to the area and leaving them there for like the first two weeks, so that there is less likely a chance of getting an infection.
I'm getting another section this time unless the baby stays under 8lbs but after he is out I'll be down to about 200lbs.....big difference from the previous one so I'm hoping it won't be as bad....Everybody is different though

I am plus sized also and had a c section. I healed fast and had no complications in the recovery. The staples came out right before I left the hospital had and no problems.

I am also plus sized and had a c section with my now 7 year old. I did NOT have any staples. I had one long suture that was removed before I left the hospital. I then had steristrips for about two weeks to help keep it closed. I could not soak in the tub but was fine to take showers and get them wet that way. I had no problems. I was advised by someone to take a pantiliner and stick it to my panties, so that way it would absorb any moisture or drainage that occured. I don' t remember actually doing this, but like I said it was 7 years ago. I think I was about 240-250 when I delivered, so hope all this helps.
