How to tell my mom?

posted 19th Sep
Heres my story.. i was with my last boyfriend for three years. He lived with my mom and I and he disrespected both of us by punching holes in the house we were renting and everything else. I got out of the relationship because I was so depressed and tired and I honestly was rescued by my best friend of 3 years. We chose to be together, and we didn't want time away from each other and hes in the army so to live together we had to marry. I am happy with my new life even though I moved out of state and got married at the age of 18. Shes happy for me and accepted everything easily. Now god has added on a baby two months after I just get done doing all of this. I sounds stupid but everything happens for a reason. I love my life and i wouldn't change it for the world but i dont know how to go about telling my mom after everything else that has happened. How should I go about telling her when I go back to michigan in 2 weeks? I dont want to sit down and talk to her, I want to think of it as a happy thing and sitting down and talking would just make it an emotional ordeal. Thanks for all the help, sorry this is so long

Just tell her. It's usually best not to drag things out. Congrats!

In a situation like that its best to tell her upfront.

You just tell her. No beating around the bush. You are a married adult. You're young and she may be disappointed, but what can she do?

You're an adult. You're paying your bills and not getting them to support you, right? I moved in with my DH when I was 19 (he's a Marine, but we got a place out in town without getting married). So, I know we supported ourselves fine and didn't rely on anyone---assuming your situation is the same (except you're married), I'd definitely make it happy news and go from there:

Grandparents day is in September...

Get her a "Happy Belated Grandparents Day" card.
Wrap a baby item and give it to her as a gift when you get there. (socks, paci, etc).
Get her a "Grandma-to-be" tee shirt or "World's Best Grandma"
Go to a bakery and get a cupcake and put a pair of toy booties/rattle on top (available at Michael's for a couple bucks for a pack of like 12-24 of them)
Take an ultrasound pic, frame it, and give it as a gift.

Lots of options

I don't think it will be as bad as you think it will be. You're out of her house and married. Maybe go out for ice cream or something and just casually tell her.   GL I'm sure everything will be fine.

Sitting down and telling her isn't a bad way to go, I was 17 when I got married two months later I was pregnant, and just told my mom about it. She was shocked but happy for me but sadly I lost the baby. I ended up pregnant again and didn't tell her till I was nearly 7 months. She was so angry that I hadn't just "maned up" and told her that she wouldn't talk to me for a while. When I got pregnant again, three years later, I just straight up told her even though me and the father, my husband, weren't together at the time, yes my youngest is his (long ass story), she appreciated my honesty and told me that she loved me and was so excited for me.

So long story short my advice is just sit her down and tell her about it, it doesn't have to be a huge emotional thing as you put it. I mean it is you're having a baby emotions are bound to get mixed up in this lol. Just tell her she's not going to turn away form you for it and hell she may be just as excited as you are.
