Feeling Accomplished *BF pic*

Ive been having such a hard time breastfeeding, She was on a feeding tube her first 24 hours in the NICU, Then was bottle fed formula for 2 days because I had no milk at all   I tried so hard to breastfeed but she was not interested at all. Today I finally went out and got a nipple shield and she has been breastfeeding only like a pro ever since!! I was about to give up on breastfeeding cause I was getting so frustrated, Im feeling so accomplished right now

Congratulations! She's adorable! You should be proud of yourself for sticking with it. I feel like way too many women give up too easily with breastfeeding =(

We had a hard time breastfeeding too. My son was in the hospital for a week and I stayed there with him. I would sometimes try for an hour or more to get him to latch and would end up in tears from being so frustrated. If it wasn't for the nurses there I would never have stuck with it and I am SO glad I did! By his 10th day he was breastfeeding like a pro.

I used one with my son because I have "flat" or "inverted" nipples.
He couldn't latch on.
The breast pump helped pull them out a little, then used a nipple shield to help even more.

Struggle. that's for sure.

Ive been trying to start her off without it sometimes but if she gets too frustrated Ill use it. Shes fed once without it so I think its only a matter of time until we wont need it anymore, Unless I get really sore or something.

It helps babies latch on better. Its uses for many different reasons though. Brooklynn was just to use to a bottle nipple so she wasnt latching on to me right, The shield is kinda like a bottle nipple u put over your nipple so the baby can latch better.

Thats how I was, The nurses in the NICU were so supportive telling me not to give up and to keep at it and she will get it.

Im really really happy I didnt give into my frustration because this bonding with her is so amazing.

eat some steal cut oatmeal too it will help you make more milk. beautiful pic btw love it!

Congrats! We fought for over 4 weeks before my son would breastfeed. The feeling you get when you finally succeed is amazing. Good luck to much much more successes!

really!? okay   Ill go pick some up tomorrow lol Im making a good amount ive been pumping often and freezing for when I go back to work. Im just nervous Im gonna lose my milk or start to not make enough or something.
