telling toddler that your pregnant.

I have a 3 1/2 year old. I just found out that we are expecting another baby. I'm not quite sure when to tell my son about the baby. I want him to be involved in some of the doctor's appt. I had a previous m/c so I don't want to tell him too early. Does anyone have any experience with this?

When i told my step son (he was 2 and 1/2) I had a pregnancy magazine and was showing him pictures of the womens bellies and saying "she has a baby in her belly, I have a baby growing in my belly too" that type of thing..... Now he sticks his tummy out and says theres a babyin his belly. lol

I don't but all of my brothers and my step-sister do and they didn't tell their 1st child they were pregnant until the 1st trimester was over. They took their child to doctors appointments, ultrasounds and shopping for the baby and had them help pick things out....that made them feel so much better about everything and helped them get used to the idea of having a brother or sister around.

My niece, Angelina, would try pulling up my shirts and dresses because she was looking for my baby! HAHA! The cutest thing!

My friend has a daughter and she just turned 2. When she sees me she tells her daughter, "Look there's a baby in her belly" and she has her rub my belly and feel when she kicks sometimes. She just found out that she was pregnant a few weeks ago and that's how she told her. She saw me and said "Look at the baby growing her her belly. Isn't that neat?" Then she said "I have a baby in my belly too. You're going to have a brother or sister!" ...but thenshe started crying because she doesn't want a brother or sister... spoiled brat.

i told my daughter when i was like 13 weeks. She'll be 3 in August. I had a m/c before this one and i told her right away then. when i came home from the dr. right after i found out i m'c she kissed my belly and said "hi baby". that was the worst feeling ever...anyways, i have 5 more weeks and she is thrilled. there is an AWESOME book called"TheBaby House" for little kids. She loves it and I think it helps her understand the waiting process and it is so cute!

i take my daughter to my OB appointments and to my ultrasounds and she is 3 1/2 i also tell her she has a baby brother in mommys tummy

Wow I know exactly what your going through. My daughter will be 4 next month and I am 5 weeks pregnant. About this time a year ago i had miscarried. So im not too sure when i should break the news to my little girl. I figured I'd wait until I started to show but im not too sure either

Wow! My son will be 4 next month also, and I'm 6 weeks. I think I'm going to wait until the 1st trimester is over to tell him.

Plus, in doing the things I suggested, it makes your child feel more important and in charge and it will make them proud to be the older sibling.
