Fluconazole for Yeast infection of breasts?

My doctor prescribed me Diflucan for yeast infection in both breasts or mastitis. However, the pharmacy gave me fluconazole. It seems to be similar. Maybe a generic brand? I really want to start taking it tonight but the package says its for vaginal yeast infection. I tried googling but not having much luck. Anyone have any experience with this?!?

I'm sure a vaginal yeast infection isn't much different than an infection of the breasts. If your doctor prescribed it for the infection, I would take it, regardless of what google tells you.

Fluconazole is the generic name for Diflucan.

Yes u take it for breast yeast infections as well. It's the generic name.

It's the generic version of diflucan.

U cant see it most time u see it in ur newborns mouth.

Eh, my breasts dont look any different. I just have REALLY bad burning while nursing and right after. Its pure torture to nurse. My nipples have cracked some and look beaten up. Lansinoh has been a lifesaver.

I found an article about treating it as well so now I feel better. Not too happy about having to take an antibiotic on top of taking the Fluconazale. Thankfully, my doctor gave me one refill for it in case it comes back after I finish the antibiotic. Bah! Stupid bladder infection from catheter

If its on the Outside it can be just white and u buy gentian violet for it. But usually it spreads inside then U need oral meds.

I recommend lanolin cream to EVERYONE lol

When my son and I had thrush my sons pedi told me to rub his medicine on my nipples after he breastfeeds.

That's what my son had too, it was oral and she said to just rub it on my nipples. It worked lol
