posted 22nd May
so Mr.Dominick turned one on May 12th and he is a walking/falling fool haha.I have a question though he knows the words dada mum mum doggie uh-oh and no he says some of them alot more than others. He is very good at imitating what you are doing with your expressions i.e if you stick your tongue out he is right there doing it back.Long story short i was just wondering when i can expect a "burst" of vocab and for us to be able to have a conversation?.

Welcome to toddlerhood! He will gradually pick up more words over the next year, but don't expect to have a conversation with him using full sentences for at least 6 more months (usually). We weren't able to fully understand our son until he was almost 2, and he didn't start using full sentences until after his 2nd birthday. This, of course, was just our experience, so yours could definitely do things sooner. Just keep talking and reading to him, and be prepared to be completely exhausted from chasing him!

thank you so much! The good thing about him being so mobile now is i get a work-out everyday haha. But this stage is so great cause we can go to the park and play in the backyard he is just so much more "socially interactive" and i love it!

I wanted him to be a junior too...my husband's name is Damian but he didn't want that. He wants to name the baby Domenico but I don't like that so we settled on Dominic.

Lol! It is different with all babies! Just like some adults are overly talkative and some don't say a word! My first son didn't start talking a lot or well until well after two!! We talked to him all day every day and nothing! He is just a quiet little guy! He had names and meals down and things like that but that was all he would give us! He is much more vocal now!

My second son also used mostly one word phrases until about one and a half where he started to learn more words but still wouldn't put them togeter until after two! I thought he was gonna talk my ears off but now that he has an extensive vocab he is quieter than his older brother who now will talk me under the table! lol

My daughter on the other hand just turned one in march! She bables all day long, knows all the words your son uses plus her brothers and sisters names and the rest is not really coherent but it doesn't stop unless she is asleep! I feel she will be talking all the time by two!
