I need some advice!

Okay I have a Preemie who is 2 months now, since birth. Her due date isn't until June 8. My baby hasn't had a bowel movement since i think it was 5 days ago. I have tried giving her mylicon cause the gas could probably get some of it out. But nothing. I have also tried what her pediatrician said and it worked for a while but now it doesnt. I don't know what else to do. It doesn't seem she is in pain. She doesn't cry at all, but you can tell that she is trying to push something out. I am concerned. Her next appointment for the doctor is on June 2. I just need some help anything! She eats just fine. She is eating about 3 1/2 - 4oz every feeding. She eats about every 3 to 4 hours. She always has a wet diaper, sometimes it like soaked. I mean did anyone ever go through this with your preemie.

Even with a preemie you should be getting a yellowish poop out like 3 to 4 times a day. I would definitely worry. 5 days isn't very good.

My son isn't a preemie but maybe its the formula?? If your not breastfeeding that is.

Since you just had the same issue last week I would either try the q-tip (which worked for you last time) or call the doc again.

i tried it but nothing. I am breast feeding her with the pumped milk i had from when she was in the hospital and the formula she is on is for preemies. I called her doctor and they told me that for formula babies they should have a bowel movement in like 2 or 3 days and breast feed babies like every 6 days. But i don't think so. While she was in the hospital she would have good bowel movements. I will call her pediatrician again cause this is just not normal. At least not to me. I also talked to my sister who had her son at about 28 weeks and she said she never had a problem with him being constipaded.

If she isnt acting uncomfortable and the doctor isnt concerned I wouldnt be either. Every baby poos differently.

I tried the q tip and well it kinds worked she had a small bowel movement it was lie a dark green metallic color.

It just concerned me a lot cause i mean she hadn't had one in a while. But she never cries, she doesn't act uncomfortable at all so yeah.

Hello..... My name is Darci and I too am a mommy to a preemie. My daughter Ashlynn will be 2 this July. She was born at 29 weeks weighing 3 lbs 7 oz and 15 1/2 inches. We too delt with poop issues when she 1st came home. Every preemie is different but most deal with lots of problems when they go home and formula is probably what you need to ask the doctor about changing ifyou are using formula. My daughter had to change many times due to not being able to poop and or being very gassy.... I even had to stop pumping / breast feeding because I was unsure if my diet was causing her problems. The doctor told us to give her a suppository if needed and that really helped alot... but don't do it too often, as you will need to find out what is causing your baby not to go poop. Most times it is a simple formula change! Of course my daughter had touse the most expensive one... Nutramigen but it worked wonders for her.... Hope this helps some!

When Ethan came home he started pooping once a week. And it was green. (still is) No big deal! If you're really concerned, give her half of a baby suppository. Just be prepared for the poo overload....

i agree..read the suggestions we gave you again...see if they work.
im telling you, dark kayro the best trick.
people have been doing it for YEARS.
its the sugar in the syrup that makes them go, according to my ped.
also, a girl told me on here last night, mylicon can constipate some babies.
