How to make a carseat cover?!

posted 16th Sep
Im looking for a tutorial on how to make one of those carseat covers. The kind with elastic that just stretch around the carseat for cold weather. Doesnt interfere with straps, preferably one with a peek a boo flap but if not, I can figure that out on my own, does anyone know of a good tutorial or measurments? I am sure I can figure something out if I cant find one, but to make it a little easier Id like some instructions   TIA!!

You can buy them at Walmart for like $20 unless you really want to make it.

I wouldn't use anything on a carseat that isn't manufactured for that carseat. Ever.

Its just a cover for it for like when they are in the stroller or being carried around in it. I mean I wouldnt use it while the car seat is being used in the car but otherwise there is no risk.

Spend the money and only buy one manufactured for your carseat. Anything else will void the warranty. It's not worth the risk. And yes, even a handle cushion can void the warranty.

Many CPSTs suggest carseat covers/canopies since they don't interfere with the carseat's straps.

Yeah, we didn't use ours in the car either. The heat alone was enough to keep us warm, but to travel when DD was in her carrier, that thing helped so much going in and out of stores, etc.

Im well aware of the safety aspect, ladies. These covers do not interfere with the straps or the functionality of the seat itself! Thanks though.

Ive found plenty for the canopy type, just cant find one with elastic!

And yes, I really DO want to make it myself   lol.

You could just use a blanket.

DD pulled and kicked her blanket off while the cover would stay on, and I knew she was plenty warm.
