Do you see a difference? Torticollis Update

posted 16th Sep
These photos were taken 4 weeks apart. As close as I could get to being the same angle.

And here's another one from today

Is it just me or do you see the her right side of her face is sunken in more than her left and her nose is slightly crooked?

Anyway, both her PT and I have been trying to get a referral from her Pedi to get her a helmet with no luck. But I'm not so sure she will still need one.

As far as PT goes, she's doing great! She is sitting up straight, begining to scoot and transition herself from sitting to belly.

It's prolly not severe enough for a helmet. It's a big cost when it will prolly only take like less than a month to fix and might even fix on its own. I had a baby in daycare who's head was terribly misshapen. It was like flat spots galore all over and her head was completely crooked. It took 1 month with a helmet now her head is perfect.

I'm starting to think that she may not need one now. She does have a flat spot on the back of her head a bit lower that the photos don't show, but hair should cover that up nicely if it doesn't fix itself. And she has a slight bulge on her forehead, but that is all. I'm just so happy that she's meeting her milestones and is a perfectly happy baby girl

Yeah for te most part her head looks smooth. It's just slanted on the right side like you said. Try to keep her off it to see if that helps. Yeah the baby we had AA steerable. Idk how you could let your poor baby's head her so bad. I'd be embarrassed if it was my kid. Her mom said its cause she only liked to eat Laying on that side. I was thinking uh does she eat 24/7?! Cause her head was completely crooked. And flat spots everywhere.

Her head looks a LOT better. I am studying to be an OTA (occupational therapy assistant), so this is very interesting to me. Rylan is who got me into this field, but i love to see different issues. Our class had an OT come talk about her son who had to wear a helmet, and she said it took 2 or 3 month just to get the helmet fitted, then another month to have it made. Maybe that is just because of where we live. It seems like therapy and positioning could fix it before you get the helmet in some cases. The doctor wanted to refer us to get a helmet for Rylan, but we worked hard on positioning and luckily avoided it.

Here's a picture of my son's head when he was a baby. This is right before he got the helmet.

He got it pretty early ... I want to say around 6 months.

He's 4 now and his head is totally normal now. We had to go get measurements done of his head from a specialist. I think they said his head needed to have a 20% distortion or something like that. it's been a couple of years.

He's cute! Thanks for sharing

Still no word yet on how we are moving forward from here....
