re: How long does it take a baby to forget?

Quoting Rd.:" You need to find a better balance in your life. DD has been in daycare for almost 3 years straight, and ... [snip!] ... providers when she's home. How much do you do for your child when you are home? I won't believe you if you say everything."

    This.

I work at a daycare as a Pre-K teacher & I can tell by my own students, as well as other children, whose parents are involved in their lives & who cries the majority of the time when they have to leave us to go home to their parents.

Children will get attached to whomever is caring for them at the time, that is just human nature. However, to cry when the mother gets them over the care provider, must mean that the mother isn't really being a "mother". And I am sorry if that sounds harsh.

5 months? Oh wow, sooo long. I did it on my own for nearly DDs whole life and lots of people have longer. You won't be getting any sympathy on that front.

I'm going to watch him when I move. My bf makes 17 an hour and he told me he didn't want me to work. He just wants me to focus on being with my son

Well geez, excuse me for wording it wrong

I hope the cost of living where you are going is low, $17/h for 3 people is not enough.

Seriously. Heaven forbid the relationship not work then what are you going to do? If you did it for the first 5 months and he's only 8 that's a very short time for him to become so attached to her if you truly are caring for him 100% of the time you aren't at work.

Um everyone gave you legit advice, but you're arguing with us. If nothing we say is going to be right or helpful, answer your own goddamn question.

Yikes. You're getting advice. Moving off with some random boyfriend while you have a child at 18 isn't smart. So what if he makes 17 an hour? That's not a lot when you start paying bills and buying groceries, household items, gas, formula, diapers etc. Is he just going to give you money? Do you have a car? How do you know you won't just be stuck in the house all of the time? If he leaves you then what? Since your foster mom watches your LO you should be trying to go to school or something.

Agree. Don't waste an opporuntity like that, it's way more hard without support. Trust me on that one.
