hole in heart

my sisters baby was born at 26 weeks on sep/11 . yesterday they found out that she has a hole in her heart and that she had some bleeding in her lungs. they stopped the bleeding .. but i was wondering if anyone else's preemie had a hole in there heart ? and are they okay now and how'd they fix it ?

Mine didn't but I know several who have. Most of the time it closes on it's own. If not they go in a close it surgically.

Ddi's aunt was born with a hole in her heart. The closed it with surgery. She is 23 now pregnant with her first kid.

My son had a valve that didn't close like it was supposed to once he was born. (PDA). He was born at 28.1 weeks. They tried to give him medication to close it, but he ended up having to have surgery. He is now 3 years old and still has 2 small pin holes in his heart, but they are supposed to close on their own, and even if they don't, his cardiologist said it wont effect his life, so she wont do surgery.

My dad was born 2 months early with 3 holes in his heart which they fixed surgically, he passed away from unrelated issues 10 years ago. He would have been 70 this past week.

my 28 weeker had a hole in his heart...it closed on its own with some medication.

I wasn't a premie, but I was born with a hole in my heart. It closed up by the time I went in for my 2 year check up.
