Has it really been that long?

Its so hard to believe that a little over a year ago we had Kieran's official diagnosis of autism & its been a year since ABA therapy started. When he was originally diagnosed his doctor placed him between 9-12 months old developmentally. He recently had another evaluation when he began speech and occupational therapy at a new center here in Oceanside, and he is now at a 2.5 year old level developmentally He has come so far! I'm so proud of him. We've had our ups and downs but I know he will continue to grow and flourish when given the right tools, just like any other child. We just have to remind ourselves that we're all learning, not just Kieran. I'm absolutely over the moon thinking about how far he's come. The support from our family and friends has helped tremendously!!! I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

That is so awesome! You sound like a very proud momma!! My 2.5 yr old has a speech delay (i know it doesn't even compare ) but she was only using about 20 words and would not use 2 words together. She has been im therapy for about 4 months now and is putting 3 words together! It's one of the greatest feelings in the world when your child accomplishes something that they are struggling at! Keep up the good work!

Aww! Congrats to you. That is a huge accomplishment too! I felt like we were stuck at 2 words for the longest time.

DD only could say family names such as mom, dad, sissy, maw maw.. and some pet names. Basic animals but nothing more than that. She is awesome at acting out phrases to show us what she is trying to say or what she needs. But her therapy is helping her tremendously! She recently started going to the preschool that is in the same building as her therapist so she is getting extra help from that!

She rides the bus to her preschool and on Wednesday i walked up to get her out of the car seat they had her in. As soon as she saw me she said, "momma, fun day, fun day! no cry momma" And i know that isn't much but to me that was the best feeling in the world!
