New job as a housekeeper @ Four Seasons Resort
posted 14th Sep
Hi everyone! I was just wanting to get advice! I just got this job as a housekeeper at Four Seasons Resort, and I was wondering if it was a bad idea due to chemicals housekeepers use to clean...I did however tell the asst. manager that hired me that I was 6 months pregnant. She didn't think it was a problem, but then she never mentioned anything about the cleaning chemicals. I'm going to talk to her about it tomorrow when I start...Would the chemicals still affect my baby if I wore a mask and gloves while working with them?
P.S. I really need this job so quitting wouldn't be a wise decision. It pays well, and I just found a job after being unemployed for weeks. Thanks!

you arent using like super harsh chemicals.. and just leave the door open and maybe in the bathroom put the fan thingy on. you wont be in there more than 10 minutes so im sure youll be okay and wont be breathing in too much

Don't shoot me and say I am a bad mom...but I have to clean at work and I wear a mask and gloves. I use some heavy duty cleaning supplies it might be something you could ask.

I dont know what every place uses but i assume they are close to the same thing. My mom was a housekeeper at a hotel for several years. The stuff we used at home was stronger than what they provided. However, just because the smell isnt overwhelmingly strong, doesnt mean it cant be harmful. I recomend wearing a mask and you should be fine. Make sure you pay attention when refilling your bottles that you dont accidently mix cleaners. It could be serious. That would also be the best time to wear your mask.
