Term VS Full Term

posted 14th Sep
I read this all the time on BG about Term being 37 weeks, and full term not being until 40 weeks.

Anyone got any good links that talk about this?

And yes, I already googled and I actually have found more things saying that full term starts at 37 weeks than not.

No help here really. My OB never says full term only term when referencing if I make it past 37 weeks.

According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), full-term is 40 weeks. To me, that's about as credible as it gets.

A pregnancy is considered full term at 40 weeks.

Only thing weird is that they go one to say:
Uterine contractions—an often painless tightening or hardening of the uterus—should be noted. "Any woman who is not full term should not be experiencing regular contractions," Dr. Swaim said. "If you are having contractions that start coming every 10 minutes or so, you should tell your doctor." Preterm labor may also be marked by unusual changes in vaginal discharge, leaking amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, pelvic or lower abdominal pressure, mild abdominal cramps, or constant, low, dull backache. Women with a history of preterm birth may be prescribed medication to delay the onset of labor.

That would suggest that the doctor was talking about full term being 37-41???? I mean since it is an estimate date don't they consider the baby full-term even if it comes in that time frame. (They don't know how fast the baby is going to grow inside)

The funny thing about that is that I get painful BH, usually every ten minutes apart for a few hours, and when I called L&D the first time it happened, they basically told me not to worry about it... said to take some Tylenol, drink some water, lay down, and see how I felt in an hour because regular, painful BH that come ten minutes apart for a few hours are apparently no biggie.
