Brooklynn's Labor Story

Clicked too soon.


All last night I was having irregular contractions, This morning at 7am when I woke up I noticed they were about 10-12 mins apart and hurting. At 9:15am I went in to have a normal ultrasound, Everything looked and saw my OB after, By this time my contractions were 4-6 mins apart, He checked me and I was 3cm & 80%. He told me ways to bring my labor on but said if I wanted to just go over to labor and delivery to be monitored. I already had an appt over there with a birth planner so I went to be monitored to see what my contractions were doing, around 12pm they checked me and I was 3.5 cm so they said to go walk. I walked for an hour and they checked me again, I was still 3.5cm but was now 90% thinned so they decided to keep me and see what happens. Around 4pm my OB came in and I was between 4-5cm and 95% so he told me I was staying and they were breaking my water. At 5pm I was still 5cm but they said it was because I had scar tissue on my cervix so once it tares through that Ill go really fast, My contractions got EXTREME !! I really wanted to get in the tub or on the birthing ball but I suddenly felt like I was gonna pass out and her HR was dropping so I got oxygen and laid on my side and screamed through contractions. My nurse checked me again around 6:30pm and I was 7cm so she said I would probably go fast. I thought I felt a lot of pressure but wasnt 100% sure so I just waited to say something, My nurse walked out of the room to get birth stuff to bring in the room seconds after she walked out my body started pushing, I realized I couldnt stop myself so I yelled for my SO to get someone that I was pushing and couldnt stop. He ran in the hallway and said we need help, A few nurses came in and didnt take me serious at first cause I was still on my side and her head wasnt showing, I rolled to my back which Im not sure if I should have until they were ready cause my body made me push again during a contraction. The nurse was telling me to stop and I kept telling her I couldnt. All of a sudden her head pops out completely and the rest of her just slides out onto the bed. No one had time to get ready or anything. My SO was just standing at the end of the bed in shock he couldnt even cut the cord.

Brooklynn Mae was born a little after 7pm, All natural and unassisted at 36 weeks gestation. 6lbs 2oz, 18inches long. She was having problems breathing at first which they thought was because she was born so fast she was having problems transitioning. After about 30mins I was allowed to do skin to skin for about 2 hours until I was moved to my post room and they noticed she still wasnt breathing right. They took her to the nursery to monitor her and she ended up being put on oxygen. They are now taking her for xray to check for infection and she will have to say in the NICU until the breathing problem clears, We are praying its NOT an infection and just her transitioning slowly. We arent waiting to be updated more on the situation and be allowed to go to the NICU to see her again.

I would say that was suppose to be a photo!! Congratulations momma! 9-13-12 looks like the day!!

Congrats!! She is precious. I hope and pray for you guys and that she will be okay and it's just transitioning going wrong with her breathing. I have been in that situation...just different terms with an IUGR baby. Sometimes it's very hard to watch your baby in the NICU but keep faith and I'm sure everyone who can is praying for her to recover fast from whatever it is and for her to be at home with you three. Stay positive and I'll be watching for updates on how she is doing. Good luck and again, congrats.

Awww. I hope everything is fine with her and she's just transitioning slowly. Keeping yall in my thoughs and prayers.

I am calling my OB in the morning for an appt because of contractions. I've been having them for over 24 hours now. They're not consistant, but have me scared.

What is it with these October babies?
