I agree...my 4 yr old goes to her dads on the weekend and he bathes her...is she supposed to wait till she gets home, he also bathes the 7 month old, and he only has a shower at his place and 4 yr old goes in with him sometimes....He is her dad. Not a creep.

Well 4 is a different story, but 10? We are both ok with it, but just curious how others see it.

Nope when I turned 13ish, I used to scream when my mom would wak in and cover myself up, lol she used to yell back that she cleaned my ass, she seen it all before lol.
Btw, I was 14 when I got my period, my mom was 9, sooo have u talked to her about what her period is?? I was in 5th grade when school talked to us about periods and pads ect. But because my mom was scared we would start early she told us at about 8-9 years old.

You're de-funkifying your kid, there's nothing wrong with that. A clean, non smelly.child is a happy child

If I am not home and my dad is here she used to call him for help at 8-9....no problem with it at all for any of us. She just got over a fear of being alone in the basement shower about a year ago, so he would sit in there while she showered. But now at 10 she does not anymore lol thats how old she was when it seemed weird for her. Her dad is not around so...

Like I said, I thought I had time. But there are little buds coming. Ugh.
Haven't prepared what I'm going to say yet.

i dont think its weird and i would think its ok as long as both of you are comfortable with it. i took baths and showered with my mom and/or dad until i was 7 or so.
though i would start teaching her how to do it on her own because you never know when her period might start. lol
i know i got mine for the first time at 10 and i am sooo glad i never had to be around my parents naked since well before that started.

Do u have any sisters or does she have any female cousins who can talk with her and u together?? She's obviously very comfortable with u, so u being involved with explaining to her what's going on will prob help her... my grandpa was only male that I would spend time with and when that time of the month came for me every summer I was at his house he freaked lol he bought me whatever I needed in begining of month and left it in my closet, now I understand why he was so weird about it but at the time it only made me more embarrased.
Maybe ask her 1st what she knows about *periods* when I was 10 all my friends had theirs already, so we would always talk about it. I would just sit in horror lol but when I did get mine it made sense.

yeah I don't either. I hate the whole mentality that somehow either fathers or mothers are superior in childcare. I feel that both parents should be just as capable and able.

Tantric, thanks so much for your comments. You make me feel better, even even so to bathe like we used to. It's what she prefers and saves time.
Thank you sincerely.

Single dad, only child. I was hoping a nice video on the internet would help explain the changes (kidding)
Im less worried about explaining the period as I am about physical and hormonal changes and different "feelings".
I'm in the medical field so menstrual issues don't bother me.

I think that everyone is ALWAYS going to have an opinion on what people do. But the only two people who's opinion who counts is yours and hers. A lot of this stuff varies so much depending on society. Let your child lead you, it will only take you in the right direction.

I will, I think she wil be more comfortable with the more natural enviornment we used to share.

That's good!! My husbands a nurse and he almost had a heart attack when our daughter seen me putting a tampon in, granted she busted in the bathroom and I can't just stop in the middle to shoo her out haha, as long as u keep talking to her, and making her comfortable to talk about the changes with u, you will be fine. Have u asked her about her feelings toward boys? Maybe take her shopping now for training bras?? So that its kinda a fun thing u guys can do together. So she knows ur *ok* with what's going to happen to her body, and she'll in turn be *ready* for what's going to happen.

I was thinking, because if the buds, this would be a good weekend for training bras and new underwear. No idea what type though
And wow, yeah having her walk in with tampon insertion must have bben awkward! Jenny has bust in at inopportune times, but I don't have to worry about that one. Lol
