She's my child! *vent*

posted 13th Sep
I love when people tell me how to parent my child. OMG, I come to my grandparent's house for like an hour, and I get criticized on basically every single parenting decision I make. I know I made the choice to come here, but I'm trying to get out and have her spend time with family. And on top of it my grandma acts like she doesn't know how to handle a baby, she rarely supports her head and she's always asking if the baby looks comfortable or if she's holding her right :/ It makes me so nervous.

And my next favorite thing is when my friends tell me how parenting is. My friends who don't have children and have never been around a newborn   Last night one friend told me how easy being a SAHM is, and I should be able to take care of Aria and clean the whole house in one day and not be tired. She said I just need motivation. Uh, she's 18 days old, I'm exhausted still. And I got super anemic from having her so I'm still feeling like I'll faint half the time if I'm standing too long. I take iron pills twice a day but the doctor said its not unusual to feel this smurffy for up to 3 months

Basically I know that some people mean well and try to give advice. But people without newborns don't know, and my grandma had her kids literally 50-60 years ago and doesn't believe anything new when it comes to taking care of babies

Ugh, end vent.

keep your chin up   Everyone will have soo many things to tell you on how to raise your kid, with time you learn when to take the advice and when to just nod and ignore.

Dont feel bad cuz you cant do it all. (like cleaning wise). There are some days where i just want to throw the towel and give up. And if she is soo motivated, she should be cleaning your place instead of complaining.

Thanks   I'm learning slowly how to do that, because I really can't handle some of the advice because people will tell me to do things, that I already know I don't want to do or have tried and didn't work.

And I know, like we live with my mom but it doesn't mean that she does everything. Like since I am a SAHM, she expects me to do like 90% of the housework and for SO to help when he isn't working-which isn't unreasonable. It's just tough. And my friend still lives with her parents and doesn't have to do like any work, so yeah I wish she'd come clean my house lol.

Kindly demand your grandma to support her head lol and as for your friends, tell them to F off. And that maybe they should come help or shut up lol. Gahh. I hope my friends don't do that. -__-

My son is 3 and my grandma is still telling how I should take care of him. Before we go see her, he has to be perfectly clean. She even checks his ears and under his finger nails. My kid likes to play in dirt so yes he gets dirty but shes like the cleaning nazi!

I feel like people think the minute you get pregnant you need their advice no matter how bizarre it is. My mom helped me with this one by simply putting it as opinions are like smurfs everyone has one! And I agree the worst thing is getting advice from people who have no children or experience around kids. Im had to bite my tongue so much lately bc ive realized its just not worth it to try and educate them all.
