Why is this period so bad?

posted 13th Sep
I am five months postpartum and I swear, every period has been worse than the last. I started on the 10th and it's been so heavy the entire time. I had some quarter-sized clots yesterday and this morning I woke up to change my pad (tampons are pretty much a no-go lately), went back to sleep, then woke up two hours later covered in blood. Went to the bathroom and there was, like...a pile of blackish red in the toilet. It was a lot and my cramps are almost comparable to early labor pains.

It was kind of like this last month too but not nearly as bad. I had cramps a full two weeks before the bleeding even started so I feel like I can't catch a break. ): I'm pretty sure it's not a miscarriage but I did have sex (with a condom, but I know that's not foolproof) so who knows. I just know I hate this a lot. Did anyone else have really heavy periods after having their baby? If so, did it get better? I'm sick of this.

I did go on the pill for two months but I bled about 2-3 weeks of each month and turned into a mega bitch. I know it takes time for your body to adjust but I had the same issue on the pill in the past. I've tried...three, I think. I never had an easy time with the pill before having my son either and even though I only gave it two months this time I couldn't take how it affected my mood. I was so annoyed with everything and almost broke down every time he'd start crying and I was alone with him.

I wondered if going on the pill and back off messed with my period but I went off in the beginning of July so shouldn't it not be a factor anymore?
