re: is 37 weeks a preemie?

That is pretty hilarious! My LO was born at almost 36 weeks at 5lbs so luckily a friend brought preemie clothes to the hospital for her. She wore the heck out of those few preemie outfits because I had only newborn stuff and she didn't even wear it til she was like 3 months old.

No. My youngest was born at 37 weeks and was 8 pounds.

The boys were born at 33 weeks and only fit in preemie clothes for around two weeks or so, less than a month. Less than 36 weeks 6 days is considered a preemie at my hospital, even if they are born completely healthy.

My dd does that too lol

My daughter was born at 39 wk 5 days, she was 6lb 13oz. Her legs are long but she was lost in her newborn clothes. I didn't buy preemie clothes though, that would be a waste of money. I ended up havin to buy more newborn clothes coz I had got mainly 0-3 clothes + only a few newborn outfits. We were expecting her to come out weighing at least 8 lbs but of course the docs were wrong with their estimated weight! She wore those clothes till she was about 10 weeks old. Nearly 5 months now + still fitting into a lot of her 0-3 stuff.

Quoting In memory.....:" my cousins baby was born at 37 weeks. and is shopping for preemie clothes. but her baby is 7lbs 13oz. ... [snip!] ... newborn clothes because she said those are too big. even though her "preemie" is heavier than a lot of term babies i know."
My baby was born at 38weeks and was 5 pounds and lost some weight and had a hard time gaining weight after that . she was in newborn till about 3 months and now shes 6 months and 0-3 clothes finally fits her perfect .. 3-6 month clothes looks soo big on her the pants always falls off

My first was born on her due date and she was 7 lbs 4 ozs and 21 inches long. We had bought a few preemie things before she was born because I had been having preterm labor issues, just incase she would come early...the preemie clothing was too small for her and would not fit and she fit perfect in newborn clothing for about a month or so and then went to 0-3 months.
This time around, I had another baby a week ago..she was born at 38 weeks and she was 6 lbs 11 ozs and 20 inches long. She absolutely swims in newborn clothing and we have been on the hunt for preemie clothing because we have to roll her sleeves and everything in all her newborn clothing. I hadn't bought any preemie clothing this time around, even though I once again had severe preterm issues, because of my experience last time,. I felt it would be a waste of money. Now I kinda wish I had when I was out of town because I cannot find much in preemie size around here.
37 weeks is considered term so unless there is a size reasoning to put her baby in the clothing, I do not see why she is so hell bent on buying them lol.

She wouldn't be considered a preemie because 37 weeks is term. Term, not full term.

My daughter was born at 37 weeks 0 days she went home at 4'2 and wore premie clothes for at least the first month. She had nursing problems, extreme reflux, and sandifers syndrome from the reflux I consider her premature since I delivered in july and wasn't due till the end of augost plus doctors, wic, ect. kept telling me under 37 weeks was preterm.

It's a waste of money but it's her child and her money so who really cares? Mine was in preemie clothes from 3-6lbs before she moved up to newborn.. I highly doubt the little 3-5 preemie sleepers would fit an 8 pounder.
