Especially alcoholics.FAS is no joke. And before anyone says that that was mean, understand that I grew up with and emotionally support(Ed) an alcoholic.She's sober now,thank God.


OP,abortion would be THE most responsible,selfless choice you could make in your situation. If you get one,talk to them about inserting an IUD at your follow-up appointment.

Take care. I've met a TON of clean and sober addicts and alkys.Many whom have over ten years.The ones who truly work a program easily earn people's respect,and from how they tell it,you'd never imagine how different they are from who they'd been when they were using.

I hope someday you'll be among them. NO addict gets clean or stays clean before they are ready. Some die first.

But I think it's selfish that you aren't giving up these things for your baby. Just my opinion.

it wasn't really that she didn't want to give it up, she said she tried and couldn't.
addiction is HARD. and sometimes it takes a long time, and many tries before finally being able to get help. if she is able to at all...
would you rather her try and quit, keep the baby, but in 3months relapse and the baby be lost then, or be born with underdeveloped lungs?
or for her to terminate the pregnancy now, and get the help she needs so in the future she is able to carry healthy children to term and give them a fulfilling life?


personally the latter makes way more sense IMO.

It's not about what I want lol.
If she wanted to keep the baby, I'd loveee to see her get clean and do it for her baby. But if she thinks she can't do it, and she wants to abort it, then like I said, I'm pro-choice. I never said I thought it was selfish for her to abort the baby. I said I thought it was selfish for her to not give up the bad stuff for it. However, I've never dealt with addiction, so I don't know how hard it can be.

She's probably still thinking it out. It's a tough decision to make. But whatever she decides I don't think she's wrong.
