weird rash

My daughter is 14 months and I noticed this weird rash on her stomach, legs and feet. I just noticed it last night and it seems to be spreading. It's like tiny little red dots. She doesn't scratch at it or really complain much. She also has a runny nose and has been sleeping a lot and not eating as much. Should I take her to the doctor or do you think its just a bug? Has anyone elses kid had a similar thing? I hate going to the doctor if its not necessary because she always comes home sicker then when we went, not to mention I'm due any day now. Please give me your advice...

Definitely take her to the doctor. My hub's neice has the same thing and found out she has a airbourne sickness something called hands..feet.. something like that she has little rashes on her body

Have you googled it? you can look at pictures of different skin rashes. It could also just be excemaor dry skin depending on the severity of it. You can give her a oat bath and rub her down with baby oil to help if it is just excema.

Well the rash sounded like "heat rash" until you said more sleeping and less eating...You could call your pediatrition and tell him/her the symptoms, sometimes they can prescribe something over the phone, or tell you if they need you to bring her in.

Hoof and mouth disease? lol.

I would wait and see, if she gets a fever or anything then I'd take her in. There are lots of mild childhood illnesses that cause slight rashes for a day or two and there's nothing a doctor can do about it except tell you to wait it out until it goes away, like any other virus. Unless she's really uncomfortable or acting really sick I wouldnt worry... . unless it keeps getting worse and is scabby or weepy at all. As far as Hand Foot and Mouth disease goes, that usually starts off as blisters in the mouth, and then spreads to hands and feet, so I highly doubt that's what you're dealing with. And even with that, theres nothing to do about it except wait til it goes away.   Anyways, good luck! You can always call your doctor's office and describe the symptoms to them as well, and let them tell you if they want to see her or not.

thanks... i'll probably just wait a day or two, she hasn't had a fever and i hope its not as serious as hand foot and mouth disease... how do they contract that?

Hand foot and mouth sounds scary, but its not at all. Its just a virus, like a common cold and they can pick it up anywhere, from the grocery store, the playground..... you name it. It lasts about 7 to 10 days usually and clears up on its own!   It doesnt sound like that's what she has though, slight rashes on the tummy and legs dont usually conjur updiagnosis of blisters in the mouth.... ya know?? LOL

haha yea that makes sense... thanks so much you calmed me down a lot... it's hard with the first one cuz it's all so new and i don't want to do anything that could hurt her in the end... but i'm not the type to run to the doc right away, so i just wanted to make sure i wasn't making a mistake by waiting... thanks!
