Bub is a week old today. He got off his I.V yesterday so that means he's eating enough and doesn't need the extra proteins and fats that they were giving him.
He also got out of his isolette so he's able to control his body temperature.
He nursed for a few minutes yesterday as well. It was a big day. He was a champ! We tried again today and it took for a few minutes before he zonked out. Later on we tried a bottle and the same thing. He'll have to work up his stamina and figure out how to coordinate the suck/swallow/breathe thing.
He's a few oz above his birth weight and I'll see if he grew any when I go in tomorrow. I get to bathe him for the first time tomorrow as well.
His car seat is at the hospital, waiting for him to do the car seat test (For those that don't know, the bebe sits in their car seat for 90 minutes. If they have no major respiratory problems in that time they pass). He needs to be off his feeding tube for 2 days before they'll let him do that.
His doctor told me that if all goes well he may be able to come home by the weekend. My milk has come in great and I'm pumping like a pro.
All in all, he's doing just amazingly. I'm so proud of him. I fall more in love every day. I can't wait to bring him home and have my family together.
Thanks for looking!
