My boyfriend got laidoff...

posted 10th Sep '12
I'm 18 and my boyfriend is 19. After graduating high school he got a really good paying job for a construction company. They told him before he would get laid off in the winter( we live in NH) so there is a ton of snow. So we were thinking around November, which was great because our son is due November 22nd. Out of the blue he got laid off. We really needed the extra money because I go to college full time and work part time so im not bringing in much money and he was bringing home enough to suport both us and a baby. With out him working now I am SO stressed! Like I knew it was coming I jut didnt expect it in September. I'm worried, upset, sad and confused! All I want to do is cry.... Has anyone else had this happen during their preganncy?

yes. currently going through it. SO worked for ADT monthly he made at least $2,000.00/month possibly more, but almost 4 months ago he got laid off. it was a shock to both of us. he's still looking. you just have to stay positive and believe that everything will happen for the best. dont stress yourself or the baby out and keep encouraging him because more than likely he feels like smurf and if you believe in a higher power im sure it wouldnt hurt to pray to him or her. *best wishes*

Not during pregnancy, even worse, a few weeks after DS was born in the middle of winter. Then again a few months later from another job. Now with this job it is a really good one, but it can be not so good at times

During pregnancy my fiance was looking for work, and found a GREAT job working for the city (which I heard is very hard to get) but, after the LO was born in July he got laid off about a month after..... even though his assignment wasn't supposed to end until October. After his assignment was supposed to end, they were going to have him another job. That didn't happen. He is now leaving the state to another job and will be gone until the beginning of the year until he gets transferred back to the state. The only part that is stressful is him not being here. Not getting to see him son crawl, sit up, etc. I am hoping this ends soon so that we can be together again. But, when this is all over, I know that we will have things better than we do now. LO will have all that he needs.

Sorry you are going through this. Especially in the circumstance.

Um, yes. Right after I found out that I had a placental abruption at 13 weeks, my husband was laid off and has never found anything as good since.
