I think you misread what I meant lol.
UC is legal in all states (I'm actually planning my 2nd UC).I meant the requirements for the birth certificate.I thought I saw that was part of your question.

Sorry, I did. Yeah my question is on that. I am talking to my midwife to make sure, but I have been researching all of this as much as possible all day.

It seems overwhelming I know! You just have to break down the information as far as what the state requires to get a birth certificate and social, I'm actually trying to look up your states info right now.

Im all for comfortable home births, and unmedicated labor, but unless someone knows the signs of fetal distress, or knows what to do in an emergency, they should have someone who does to assist them. OP, have you had an u/s done or will you? How will you know if LO is breech, or if their in distress? What if you need an episiotomy? Do you have numbing salve? What about stitches if you tear, instead of an episiotomy? Im not trying to be rude, but even though i dont know you im worried for you.

I have an ultrasound done every time I go to my midwife. But the midwife I am seeing does not do homebirths. I am not done trying to find someone. But as of now I haven't found anyone. I have done natural births every time and I have a plan in case something or anything goes wrong. But as easily as all three of my children were born I am praying this one is smooth and quick too.

Most people who choose to UC do so being well informed.
Women don't need ultrasounds, although being a UCer myself I prefer them to rule out any birth defects that could make homebirth unsafe.

Women can deliver breech, but it isn't hard to feel the uterus externally and tell what position your baby is in.
Distress in home birth is rare but a woman can choose to use a doppler or fetoscope to listen to heart tones, the same method they use in the hospital.
No woman needs an episiotomy in fact research shows receiving an episiotomy increases the woman's chance of tearing more deeply.Natural tears heal better.
Also not all tears need stitches and can/will heal on their own, in the case that she would need stitches a trip to the ER would suffice.

Amen! I had the doctor cut me in the first birth and I wish he hadn't. My second I had very few little stretches that healed faster and better on their own, and my third I had nothing to worry about. Not saying there is no chance it will happen again. But all three boys were born in 2-3 pushes and naturally, no complications. My husband has been VERY hands on and has been studying everything right beside me . Which honestly after researching more natural ways I would never do a hospital birth. They do things to make it faster and to get you in and out, with no regards to whats best sometimes. Not all the time but if I would of known the benefits of leaving the cord and placenta attached I would of requested and made them leave it. But they immediately clamp it cut it!

I am not getting on anyone, I am just saying in MY case I rather do this. I wish we could get a midwife but we can't find one. But looking at my quick deliveries my ideal spot would be at home rather then in one of our vehicles on the side of the road.

I am praying for you.. Id like to know about your home birth, when it happens. It sounds very scary, but exciting. I wouldnt ever be able to do it, but i admire you for your strength. I will be praying everything goes safely for you and LO.

Thanks, I really am not a crazy hippie or anything. I just love natural and would so much rather have it attended but as of now we haven't found anyone. So we prepare for it.

I'm expecting my 4th baby in a few weeks.I have only given birth in a hospital once and that was with my 1st.He was an induction with pit and an epidural baby.
My second was an accidental homebirth (due to the hospital sending me home despite my pleads that I was in fact in labor).EMTs were present for that one.
My 3rd I wanted a homebirth, Tricare (military insurance) does not cover homebirth and at the time we couldn't afford the out of pocket $ for a midwife and I happened across UC,so that is what I did.
This go round anything other then a UC seems unnatural to me.

I totally agree, My first my water broke but the hospital decided to put me on a pit because I wasn't contracting enough. I then realized it was because they were changing shifts! WOW I wanted natural and when my doctor came (family friend) he was upset to see the residents choice in that. And not telling me the truth. My second was a midwife my water broke and if it wouldn't have been for the fact I was contracting well she would of sent me home and I would never have made it back. We were stationed at Vance Air Force base in Oklahoma and the awesome drive in and out of the gate would have taken to long. Because it was a light switch and I all of a sudden felt EVERYTHING and by that point I pushed once and he was out. Great thing was we got to do everything on our own. The midwife just handed me the baby and after 3 1/2 hours sent me home with him. My third was a fluke that I got caught in labor. I went to the doctor and I was dilated to 6, I had no feeling or being in labor. Went to the room and before they could even respond to my call I was crowning, and they caught him before he hit the ground. For some reason I don't have labor signs. I loose the mucus plug and contract but when I am in full labor I don't feel a thing till the last few seconds. Which all people that know me say I am lucky and I am like NO it isn't I have no idea when my babies are coming. And everytime it has been a fluke I was there to have someone.

I would say you were lucky, but I need some type of signal I will be having a baby soon lol.
Because I actually never experienced what real labor felt like since I had the induction and epidural in my 1st, I didn't know how close I was to giving birth with my 2nd until I felt the urge to push.My water broke as she was coming down the birth canal.
3rd my water broke first, contractions weren't really timeable or regular until the last 4-6 hours of labor.(total about 16 hours of labor)
Had I gone to the hospital with number 3 they would have insisted on using pitocin to "speed things up".
I honestly can not ever fathom birthing in a hospital unless the baby or I had a medical condition that would make homebirth dangerous.

EXACTLY! I would have no problem going if there was a reason. But as of now there isn't a reason. When do you usuaully cut the cord?

With number 3 EMTs cut the cord as soon as they got there (they weren't needed but I let my husband have that "comfort").With this baby I am not cutting or clamping the cord until it stops pulsing.I want the baby to get all her blood from the placenta as well as be provided with oxygen and iron. The way I see it is the umbilical cord is the essentially the baby's lifeline, I don't want to cut that line before it is ready to be cut and that to me is when the placenta stops nourishing my child. Also keeping the umbilical cord intact offers some protection say IF baby did need a little assistance with breathing,as long as the cord is pumping the baby is receiving oxygen rich blood.
