Child support from a soldier

Has anyone here ever dealt with trying to get child support from a soldier OVERSEAS established without going directly to him? I need help.

Military One Source might be able to point you in the right direction.

I was looking online today and found that and was wondering if I should try to call. Here is my problem: my baby's father is stationed overseas. I need to get a hold of his sergeant because that is who I have to talk to in order to get this process started. I can't call the base he is stationed at because my phone does not call internationally. I have tried e-mailing more than once and I have got no replies. I've called recruiters around where I live and all of them have told me there is nothing they can do to help me!! I just need help contacting this person!

Definitely get ahold of Military One Source, they are great. They should be able to get you started at least. Good Luck!

This may be a dumb question.. But is getting help from them free? Do I just call the 1-800 number??

You should be able to go directly through Child support enforcement in your state. Without contacting the military channles at all. It does not matter if he is station overseas or not.

Months ago I tried calling the child support office in my state to ask them what I should do in order to get this process started. They told me that since he is stationed overseas I can't even file for child support right now. No one is helpful to me at all. When I initially asked a recruiter about it, he told me that I need to get in touch with the sergeant.

yup its free, just call the number and let them know your situation. do you have a DNA test to prove he is the father?

No I don't have a DNA test done. Nothing has been done so far whatsoever.

You will have to go through the courts. Contact an attorney. My ex is stationed in Germany and it took going through the courts to get my divorce. Don't expect it right away either. Took me 6 months for the divorce and then when he didn't abide by it, took almost a year to hold him in contempt of the divorce decree.
There are civilian, military, and international laws you have to deal with so get an attorney. Hang on for the long haul too. Unless he agrees to things, don't plan on anything til he comes stateside.

I called Military One Source and they were of no help to me at all. I have tried to do everything I know to do and no one has helped me. I didn't want to have to resort to asking him myself to do whatever he can to help me get it going but I did because that is my only other option right now. I can't afford a lawyer at the moment. And I can never predict his actions but I don't see him not agreeing to do something about it.
