RIP Julius

I didn't know this boy, but I've heard a lot of people liked him. He was very kind and had a lot of friends and his favorite thing to do was to skate. Julius was killed last night at 8:30 PM. He and I believe, 2 others were around the train tracks last night and the Amtrak train came through town and Julius was hit. He was found two blocks down on the side of the tracks. Whats even worse, was his friends posted this on facebook before the boys mom found out!! =[ He was 14. My aunt called my mom when she found out and asked if my 14 year old brother was home and told her why she was asking. Making sure it wasnt my brother, because he likes to play around the train tracks. And doesnt make smart decisions around them either.

I know =( I would be so mad if I found out my kid died after everyone else already knew through facebook! About once a year someone is killed on those tracks from Amtrak trains. Last year, my mom's bf's friend died. He was drunk and walking home and my moms bf saw it all. that would be so traumatizing. I would never immediately post something so tragic on a website. =[

They are making a skate park in Junction City, and they are trying to get it dedicated to Julius because he skated all the time.

Kids just don't think... I think they post before thay even for a complete thought... Sounds like maybe they should put up more signs or something... I'm not sure how you make a railroad crossing more safe though.. Good thing his memory can live on at one of his favorite places. I'm sure the family would be grateful knowing their son loved to skate.

The part of the train tracks where he crossed was a very dangerous part. The video showed the train tracks where it was two sets and said it was a dangerous spot and pedestrians are encouraged to cross at the crossings or whatever they are called and to look carefully for trains before crossing.

Very sad! And his poor mother, that is awful.

So sad. One of my old friends was killed in Portland a few years ago, but she just walked off a train platform  

I can see a lawsuit or two coming for posting about the parents finding out on FB.

Yea, she was dealing with a lot of personal issues too. It was sad and it was definitely a life cut too short like Julius'.
